KSquared
I'm running the 7100/RC Build with the virtual XP addition. I've installed a few programs and like the way that your able to launch programs installed on the XP virtual machine from the W7 start button. However, I have a slight problem. I've installed one program (eBahn from Bentley Publishers) in the virtual XP machine but it did not get added to the Virtual XP Programs in the W7 start menu. What I can't figure out is how to add the program manually to the W7 menu that will launch in the Virtual XP machine. The reason is this strange little code in the command: "%SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\VMCPropertyHandler.dll,LaunchVMSal "Virtual Windows XP" "||95070888" "avast! Antivirus" The "||95070888" part has me stumped. I don't know where that comes from. Any ideas? Thx -K2
rwx
Hmmm where did you get that string from? Did you get it by right clicking a different program entry and selecting properties and reading the "Target" text field? If not, do what I just mentioned and try replacing the path of the original program with the one that you want to launch? Just copy an existing shortcut and modify its target text field (if there is one). This is just a pure guess...what seems logical to me. I am not sure whether any of this makes sense as I haven't tried XPM, just trying to be helpful :) I am not really running Windows 7 although I have the beta version installed, I am typing this from XP. I will try W7 RC1. I am still not over the fact that they disabled my SBLive! sound card.
Kevin.
In XP, right click on the start button, go to "Explore with all users". Once open, make a shortcut to the program you wish to launch there. Then see if it appears in the Windows 7 start menu,
KSquared
Hmmm where did you get that string from? Did you get it by right clicking a different program entry and selecting properties and reading the "Target" text field? Yes, that's exactly where I got it from. Have no idea what purpose it serves. I might find something if I searched the registry on XP, but I don't have that much motivation left tonight. In XP, right click on the start button, go to "Explore with all users". Once open, make a shortcut to the program you wish to launch there. Then see if it appears in the Windows 7 start menu, Perfect - that worked like a champ. Thanks. Not sure why I didn't think of that. For some reason, when I installed the eBahn software, it didn't create an entry in the Start menu.

Zwinky
Don't worry, it took me a moment to figure it out as well. I had to watch this video before I knew how to do it. I finally figured it out for exe's. I've ran into some problems because I've adeed a user to place it into a domain. I actually want to use an ols dos program but it doesn't seem to work with shortcut's to a bat file.
