Adobe Master Suite CS4

Recommended Posts

I don't understand this. I have Adobe Master Suite CS4 I have never updates the 'setup' files, so they are all still the same.

1. From the first beta and every leaked build so far it didn't work properly, it would say I need XP or Vista and I don't meet these requirements (It still installed).

2. There is a VersionCue.cpl file that causes major problems and crashes everything, casusing Control Panel not to work properly, etc.

Now, build 7100 x64.

It didn't give me the System Requirements message when i attempted to install and I haven't had to remove the VersionCue.cpl file.

Photoshop Opens in seconds on this build too :D

Why is this? I feel that 7100 is great and I haven't run into too many problems, but any ideas on why this works great now? :/

Adobe Photoshop CS4 has been working for me with no issues right from beta build. Also i tried Master collection on RC build and it works great

Photoshop works fine and as I said the Master Collection works fine on the RC (7100) but I always used to get an "OS Not supported error' when installing and VersionCue.cpl errors when installed.

Only problem that I'm running to is when I set my panels on the right side and then switch windows and come back, they are all minimized.

Thats problably an error related to VersionCue. All the software i use from MC works, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Acrobat..

Do you use VersionCue?

Since VersionCue is a version manager that need to be running most of the time, its likely it needs special permissions from Windows.. try not installing it if you dont use it.

Care to elaborate? I cannot reproduce this :/

I've never used VersionCue :p I just installed everything, easier. This issue is gone in the RC, just wondering what they have changed to magicaly make this software work.

It's because Adobe is a crappy company famous for their remarkably poor programming abilities. As for the version stuff, Windows 7 contains compatibility fixes for various Adobe software and will spoof version info to make them think they're running on Vista.

Simple answer, explains it :p

Thanks :) I don't see why it is Microsoft's job to do this but good on them :D

I completely agree, however everybody blames Microsoft when anything goes wrong. So I guess it is in their interest to fix it for the companies that cannot be bothered.

Adobe make great products, but I agree with everybody here it would be nice if they could bring out a version that was less buggy instead of immediately moving on adding a few additions and charging a crazy price to upgrade.

This is true and if it continues, then why should the likes of Adobe do it? Hell Microsoft will do it for us :)

I agree here too, Adobe products are good, but they are damn expensive, even for upgrades and discounts :( and they should make less buggy software before adding new features. I'm glad they have swithced Photoshop to x64 though :) good on them for that one.

Yes, Microsoft almost cannot win because people don't know the difference when the computer crashes or something does not react the way it should react.

However perhaps Microsoft could come up with some kind of way to recognise software that does not give any trouble, perhaps a seal of approval or something.

I've thought about this a few times. I think this should be the case. I don't remember but I think I have seen a Microsoft seal of approval on a piece of software before. Not a 'Works with Vista' type thing. Can't remeber though :p

I think they should certainly do this though. Would solve a few problems :)
