I'm thinking of purchasing a Xbox 360 controller to use on my PC for some of my games but I'm not sure if I should go with a wired or wireless version. The price difference really isn't an issue but I've heard that the wireless has a horrible battery life and that there's a stronger rumble on the wired version. From your experiences, which version should I go with?

Go wired, I did.

Typically you sit right in front of your PC, so there isn't as big a need for wireless.

No charging batteries for me either.

I also went wired as trying to find the wireless PC addon in the UK is quite difficult, especially at a good price. There's also the bonus of instead of ending up with a wireless PC addon and you having to use one of your 360 controllers, you now have a spare wired controller for your 360.

I don't have a comparison between the two but horrible battery life isn't true, unless you have a botched battery. As for personal choice, I'd go for USB version since for the wireless version, you'd have to get the receiver as well.

Does the wired version have a nice cable length?

I think it's maybe 2m?

It's too long for me anyway :p

9-foot / 3 meters

I can haz fail at perception.

Must be 3m then, I thought 2.5m at a stretch but when was the last time I carried a meter stick about with me?

you could get a wireless controller and the microsoft wireless headset.

then you get both a nice headset with the dongle required for your computer and a wireless controller.

As for battery, regular AA batteries will last forever, the rechargeable play and charge will last you through the singleplayer cmpaign of several games, and you don't have to deal wit the cable crap.

And yeah, the controller works great with games that properly support it, like FC2, Prince of Persia, Wolverine Origins and such.

unfortunately a lot of games don't properly implement the gamepad support like they're supposed to for the GFW certification.

I was thinking of using Xpadder for the games that don't support the controller.

It's not that they don't support it, it's that the support is crap.

PoP and these other games, tey provide proepr supportm with the Xbox gamepad button icons and such for gameplay hints and QTE's.

L4D I I think had semi support for the pad, but it's so crap it's worthless. wic is weird since they have an xbox version tey ae all the resources and such to make give it proper support.

Neither. Get the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2. I had a wired Xbox 360 controller and the Logitech trumps it in every way. I can even play PS2 games comfortably on my laptop. Wireless is ALWAYS better than wired.

I know I'm going back a few years but when I had the Playstation 2 wireless controller it drove me nuts because there was always a very slight delay in response time, even with fresh batteries. Is this issue happen with the 360 wireless.

I haz this controller and I lovez it!

Anyway, besides that, if you have a 360 go with wireless. This way you can use your 360 controller for system and computer. Or if you have 2 1 for each and if 1 of them runs out of battery, o look a backup :).

Play and Charge for atleast 25 hours. Ive played 5 days 5 hours straight and got the 2 bars where the circle just spins spins spins telling you its almost at 1. Im pretty sure I could of pushed for another hour.

I didn't read the topic correctly, I should have voted wired. No point in having wireless if you are sitting right next to the machine.

Unless it's a HTPC in you living room?

Basically there is no technical reason to go one way or the other, it just comes down to personal preference and money. Do you want wires trailing and is the lack of wires worth the extra cost to you? i.e. the slightly higher cost of the pad, and the wireless receiver.

@ maskedforever. How does the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 trump the 360 pad in every way? It looks pants to me.
