incognito129
Anyone know which is faster? I heard windows 2008 server is alot faster than vista and you can enable desktop mode to give it vista features.

hdood
No, Server 2008 is not faster. Server 2008 is identical to Vista (it is literally the same OS), except it includes server-related tools and is optimized for running background services rather than interactive software. Once you've modified the Server configuration and disabled all the server stuff you don't want, you end up with Vista but without things like Media Center and TV card support. In other words you might as well have saved yourself the trouble and just installed Vista. The only legitimate reason to install Server is that if you really want the server stuff for playing with or training. Unlike Vista, Server comes with a 240-day trial.
