Subject Delta
As the mythbusters would say: Confirmed Seems really random as well, there is no common denominator to it If you stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service and then use WMP's Tools:Advanced:Restore Media Library to let the player reset the Media Library - does the content upon rebuild show up as the correct file size? That also fixed my problem, but I have no idea what could have caused it in the first place, as WMP has never crashed on my system before. Preppy Veteran Posted May 27, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 27, 2009 Gah! The problem's come back now, seemingly after this happens.Did that happen before this happened originally? It so, it's probably what caused this.
Examinus
Did that happen before this happened originally? It so, it's probably what caused this. I couldn't say to be honest. I wasn't paying enough attention...I just noticed the problem came back after that error. You said you can't tell much more without direct access to my system. Well, if it helps, you're welcome to have a rummage around if you like. In the meantime, I'll rebuild my library and check to see if it breaks again if that error pops up. Open the Reliability Monitor, then click "View all problem reports". Do you see any results for this error there... ? Seeing as this error seems to be linked to this problem, I'll reply to your post here. Maybe a mod could merge the threads for consistency? I've had a look in the Reliability Monitor and the problem isn't listed there at all - nothing for WMP.
Examinus
Just a quick update: I rebuilt my library again and have just noticed songs are being reported at 0 Bytes again. I haven't had that error message so it doesn't look like the two are linked.
Preppy Veteran Posted May 30, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 30, 2009 Did you stop the Network Sharing Service before rebuilding your library? If you don't do that, rebuilding can not fully work in the RC. That's fixed post-RC.
Examinus
I didn't, no. I'll do that and try again.
Examinus
Just a quick update: The problem is still here after I reset the library after stopping the service. The error message hasn't appeared since the last time I posted, so I don't think they are linked.
