Are these two optical audio out connectors the same?

I originally wanted to ask this question in my original thread but felt this needed extra attention.

In that thread I asked if these two connectors are the same. One of them is definitely a TOSLINK JIS F05 connector, for instance this plug on the back of my desktop:

But what's this grey plug? Is it the same? This is the back of my Rogers HD terminal box.

The "grey" or "block" shaped plug is for fiber optic cables:

Both are capable of delivering the exact same audio signal (non HD), but not in tandem. Random Trivia: CE installers have shown preference for SPDIF cables over optical because they don't suffer signal degradation over long runs as the other option does.

You mean the one on the HD box, correct? (I did see red light emanating from the plug while examining it.)

If so, would it fit into the 'optical' plug on the Z-5500? This one right here:
