Minimizing Firefox opens Messenger

Recommended Posts

I'm not crazy... I've been doing this for a few minutes.

I'm running Win7 RC.

Messenger hangs around on my task bar. It's minimized.

When I minimize Firefox, Messenger appears! If I minimize Firefox while Messenger is open nothing happens. But when Messenger is not on the screen and I minimize Firefox (and seemingly nothing else does this) Messenger pops right up.

Weird lil RC bug.

Yep, that happens to me too. In fact, thats why i change the behavior of WLM, so now it justs sits in the tray, just like in XP or Vista. Here's how if youre interested.

I remember posting about this since the public beta.

I have no idea why this still isn't fixed... although I'm not sure if its a Win 7/Firefox/WLM problem.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. Now Messenger sits safely in the tray.

I bet this but is what MS would call a 'feature.' That's why it hasn't been 'fixed'.

Why is it a feature? Dunno. I'm just saying.

Messenger becoming the active window whenever Firefox is minimised would never be a feature, in Microsoft's eyes, and I'm starting to assume it could be a bug in Windows Live Messenger or Firefox; not Windows 7. Microsoft must know about this bug and it has been there since the beta.

I'm annoyed - I thought it would have been fixed by the release candidate...

Sorry... I didn't add any of the sarcasm indicators. I was being sarcastic.

Yes, but I was pointing out that your sarcasm was flawed because as far as I know, Microsoft have never put in random, pointless features. Or bugs which are features...
