howarang15
Hi guys so i was dual booting xp and win7 (7000) both are on diff hdd. To get rid of win7 i just format the hdd from xp but will this also clear the bootmanager or is there something else i need to do first? thanks
The Canadian
You can try EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 It's what someone pointed me to, as Win7 fragged my bootloader so I couldn't log back into Vista -- I had a dual boot system XP/Vista; I formatted my XP partition and installed Win7 there -- and EasyBCD fixed that. Ikshaar
Just so you know... Vista and Windows 7 replace XP bootloader with their own which read config file from their own partition !! which explains why wiping your windows 7 partition is always a bad idea as it deletes those files and screw up the bootloader. Indeed always run EasyBCD before removing Windows 7 allows you to reinstall what they call legacy bootloader (the XP one). And then you can delete the windows 7/vista partition.
