subferno
I have a spare netbook to try Win 7 RC out but I can't seem to find enough disc space to install. My netbook has a 16 gig SSD drive. I was able to install Win 7 Beta because I was able to clean up the previous XP installation. Now that I am doing a clean install of Win 7 RC with the Beta already installed, I don't know how to increase disc space for it. The Windows directory itself is 7.5 gigs and the Program Files is 350 megs. I don't know what else is taking up the rest of my hard drive.

Volatile
Installing windows 7 on a netbook is like when people installed vista on their xp built machine with 1 gig of ram. They all thought it sucked because it didn't have the power it needed to run the OS like it was meant to. Install Ubuntu instead.

Windows 7 takes up quite a bit of room on install. Nuff said (or just format the drive and do a clean install). READ the first post. He's ran the beta so the RC should be even better. Quit with the FUD already.

siudauding
First, it doesn't upgrade from Windows 7 Beta Second, it needs about 13GB free disk space when doing an upgrade (from Vista). You better do a fresh install.

Gary2MBz
I tested 7100 on an eeePC and it works better than the eeeOS or whatever it came with in terms of performance.

I have win 7 running on my asus eeepc 901. granted it does have 2GB of ram but my friend who only has 1GB has it and that runs fine. Both running aero flawlessly. In answer to the original question.. You will need to do a few things to make it fit. I ahve win7 running on a 4GB SSD with my program files folder on a 32GB SSD. I had to use VLite to make a compact custom install disc. I used parts of the guide here: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=56897 Now.. everyone saying it won't work.. shut up, it does, do some research. k? Jason S. Global Moderator Posted May 6, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted May 6, 2009 OP - just reformat. you shouldnt have very important data on a netbook anyway. 16GB is pushing it, but you still should be able to install the RC. i have Windows 7 on my MSI Wind and it's great

I don't know what disk space problem you're referring to, if you're going to do a clean install. My Acer Aspire One netbook only has an 8GB SSD, and I can do a clean install without any problem and I'm left with roughly 1.5GB after everything is said and done. No reason you shouldn't be able to do the same when you have twice the storage room.
jznomoney
I copied my install files to a 4gb sd card. Booted from the sd card. I had to format my ssd drive its only 16gb. It took quite some time to install. It runs great though. My netbook is a acer eee pc 900 with a 16gb upgraded flash drive( the original one was to slow), 2gb of ram, and a 900mhz celeron. Once installed it runs pretty decent for just browsing the internet and chat. I had disabled hibernation to save disk space.
surrealvortex
@jznomoney Just copy the files to the sd card from iso extracted? Or do we have to do something more? Will that work on a pen drive?
