chrisj1968
seems like Microsoft got rid of the standard email app "mail" that has been in every version of windows. My guess: to stop idiots from spreading email viruses from their PC's since everyone wants to open emails aptly named: "you won $1,000,000 click to collect your money!!!" mitchartz
There are people saying people still use dedicated email software, I'm the other way around, people still use a browser to get there email? So much easier to just open Thunderbird and let it get my email for me.
lawtai
I do both... I download my messages into Outlook 2007 but leave it on the server for 14 days so I don't have to be directly at my computer to check my e-mail.
HawkMan
It seems that he/she doesn't want that version. but he wanted the "mail" app, not outlook express, and WLM and Windows Mail are practically identical, except WLM is kept updated.
sharp65
Windows Live Mail is better than the old Windows Mail in vista. I think the thread starter is a bit confused.

sharp65
Microsoft could update Windows Mail via Windows Update. There're no reasons to create Windows Live Mail Sure there is, windows mail didn't have a built in calendar. It was really supposed to be an upgrade to outlook express. Windows Live Mail has a built in calendar and it's an improved version of mail. It can also be updated much more frequently if it's in the essentials suite. Microsoft doesn't update their built in apps through windows update. A lot of people use online mail now so there really is no reason to have it built in.
