Anyway to put the show desktop button next to the start button? I find placing it beside the time very inconvenient

I tried this, but not perfect as Vista or XP :( :

1. Open Notepad and type in:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

2. Save the file as "Show Desktop.scf";

3. Drag the file to the Taskbar and it says "Pin to Windows Explorer";

4. Now right-click the Windows Explorer icon, "Show Desktop" is top.

You can have a try.

Why not using the hotkey to show desktop... Try this:

Press 'Windows Logo' key (that is next to Alt key) and D key at same time. So the apps will be minimized... I do this all the time.

Well since you are still in vista you might not know but the programme bar is quite different in windows 7. Here is how it looks for me at this moment: post-287500-1241588210_thumb.jpg

and you use the rectangle to the right of the time to show your desktop but as shozilla said you can also just use the keyboard shorcut.

Too bad it is too late to send feedback, I wanted the Win + D implementation to have an Aero Peek preview while holding it down similar to the new Alt + Tab behavior.

I'm sure someone could send him a shortcut from Vista in a Zip file and he could pin it as either an explorer item or using the separate explorer hack for the Recycle bin to be applied to this?

To re-instate quick launch and the show desktop in their proper place do the following....

If you want the old Quick Launch, you'll have to create a new toolbar by navigating to "C:\Users\yourusernamehere\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch", then unlock the taskbar and turn off "Show title" and "Show Text".

Exactly what I was about to say. I did this same thing yesterday; and happily, the Quick Launch bar already had Show Desktop on it. :D
