stevember
When running media centre on a multi-monitor it runs absolutely fine, I have yet to find a better media centre clone. The main issue is when making a full screen the mouse is locked in, this needs to be changed if possible. I really want to run it full-screen on one of the secondary monitors and continue to work on my main monitors. Also, if you have pause TV or you are watching TV 30 minutes behind and you decide to record that program it immediately jumps to the end and in real-time and starts recording from there, if he is to start recording from the moment you are watching or at least that whole programme. stevember
I know, yes I am bumping my own thread. But I do think it is something Microsoft needs to address.
DrCheese
I remember this being raised numerous times during the Windows Vista (!) Beta testing period and even then it was ignored. This isn't something they will change in windows 7 now, it's in complete feature lockdown now, but yes it is retarded how you can't max on one screen and still use the other. stevember
But, I don't think it has got anything to do with features. Granted I don't know the feasibility of changing but certainly think they should look into if possible. I think they are doing amazing job window 7, granted I was also a fan of Vista. This has to be my only real annoyance with Windows 7.
briangw
These is a way to get it to work, albeit I don't recall. In the past, I've been able to have it full screen and get the mouse out of there.
tomwarren Veteran Posted May 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 28, 2009 If you press the start button on the keyboard that gets you out of it but it's easy to get locked back into it. Yes it definitely needs to be addressed :(
jbo
For you dual screen problem, you can try this: http://www.mods.com.au/maxifier/ As for the recording buffer, I will quote the Media Center team on this: Q:I know we are not going to see it for this release but, Why was buffer recording not added to this release ?A: We know this is the top 5 (if not top 3) request. We will really make this top priority in our next release planning. It is not an easy change since it requires changes from mulitiple components. Akaruz
just a question , if you use an mce remote control to make fullscreen the mouse still locks in ? since i was thinking on buying a 2nd Screen :/ to do the same ( 1 screen / work | 2 screen / TV )
duhdrummer
I've struggled with this ever since MCE 2004. I doubt it'll ever happen.
Frank
I've struggled with this ever since MCE 2004. I doubt it'll ever happen. Agreed. The issue is most people running media center is running it on a single TV. I ran MCE on my main machine back in the day and just used windowed view and sized it to the size I wanted. nautiqueskier
The reason for this is in the old days of dedicated Media Center computers, Microsoft wanted to ensure that the MCE window never lost focus. This could be a problem if you were, for example, sitting on a couch using the remote and all of the sudden focus was lost. The problem is since Vista, MCE has been more of a general media environment. This definitely drives me nuts.
Vakerorokero
Since Microsoft is discontinuing media center extenders, It wouldn't surprise me if we'll be seeing a media center replacement in the coming years. Specially since it has very limited adoption versus stuff like xbmc and hulu.

Specially since it has very limited adoption versus stuff like xbmc and hulu. and when did Ms say they was stopping MCEE . and the adoption rate is just fine since a 360 is one and so is a few or more DVD players higher end ones . i mean sure i dont own a HD TV cant afford one nor do i have a 360 but a few friends i know have ther stuff setup with MCe and
Xerxes
I agree it is annoying, PowerDVD will let you do it and it works a treat...so if CyberLink can do it, how hard would it be for MS to fix? I fail to see the benefit of leaving it the way it is, whatever the MS devs are smoking they need to stop it and fix this simply yet very annoying problem!
y_notm
Don't really have a need for it anymore as I only have one screen on my main MCE rig now, but everyone who has problems with media centers multi-monitor support should do a quick google for "mce multimon"
