soMzE
Hey there Neowin community, I have a suggestion for the "Hide windows/Aeropeek" function. (i don't know another name for it) Please look at the screenshot: Now it's on the very right of the desktop, but should it not be better if it was movable, just like al the icons on the superbar? I personally dislike it's on the right side of the screen, maybe a lot of people like it this way but if it is possible to move to another location on the superbar would be better in my opinion. Infinione
I agree, if it was movable, it could be located next to the start orb, similar to where my current 'Show Desktop' icon sits in the Quick Launch tray in Vista. However, that would mean the desktop would momentarily 'peek' whenever you brushed over it , so I'm not sure how you'd overcome that. That's probably why it's sitting all the way over to the right, out of the way

0sit0
I doubt they'll change it but I wouldnt mind having an option to set it wherever I like.
soMzE
I think if they keep it "not movable", lots of people won't use it because they are very used to having the "Show Desktop" icon from quick launch on the left side, near the Start Orb. Pikey
I think it's in the best place right now .. it's so easy to just throw your cursor down to the corner to use it!, nothing could be gained by moving it in my view ..
.tony
Agree with it being in an optimal position already. You can always make your own Show Desktop shortcut next to the start orb if you prefer it that way.
MikeChipshop Member Posted May 11, 2009 Member Share Posted May 11, 2009 Also agree, it's there on purpose. Throw you mouse left and your on start, throw it right and your on aero peek.

It won't be easy for an average user to bring it back there, though ;)
azz0r_wugg
I'm using to having the Show Desktop icon next to the Start button. My only real gripe with 7 is that I now have to randomly stray to the complete opposite side of the screen to how I've been using Windows for 12 years. dontocsata
You all know that Windows-D shows the desktop, and pressing it again brings everything back, right? That's waaay easier than using aeropeek to Show Desktop.
azz0r_wugg
I actually find Win+D bad for my thumb.

MarkusJ
I just "trixed" a little in paint: (se the picture) So after that, I actually think that it's in its best position! But there should be a button to remove it, dont "half deactive it" I'm using aero peek by my self, so :) - My first post btw, MarkusJ (sorry my bad english, I'm from Norway..) mzta cody
I might add to that one suggestion. Maybe some sort of recoloring or altering the button image so as to be more prominent. Btw, I noticed that the show desktop button still uses the Beta taskbar button outline. (compressed to that narrow rectangle of course..)

Oke, finally i see what you guys mean, you can throw the mouse pointer to the bottom right of the screen, without exactly pointing it on the button :D That's really easy! But still i think it was possible to change it's position on the Superbar lol :p (maybe i didn't understand it because i'm not speaking english as my main language lol) I just "trixed" a little in paint: (se the picture)So after that, I actually think that it's in its best position! Quillz
It's in the far right to comply with Fitt's Law. Objects in absolute corners are always the easiest to activate. Thus, no matter how you dock the taskbar, you can be assured it will always be in an extreme corner. The old method was terrible. A tiny button in a dynamic list that, depending on taskbar placement, was always in a different location, unreliably. Sure, you got used to it after years of usage, but this new method is far better. It only doesn't seem like it because it's new, but soon, it will be second nature.
MikeChipshop Member Posted May 20, 2009 Member Share Posted May 20, 2009 +1 for above, the two most common taskbar tasks (Show desktop, Start menu) are now both easily executable by a quick and easy un-targeted wrist swipe... pow, simple! :p
insanelyapple
button is located in good place but should have own icon - when i first saw superbar in early 7 builds i was sure that aero peek button is intended for moving whole taskbar to the edges of screen; so, without icon is completly useless for people who doesnt saw 7 before, it may be mistaken as decoration thingie (until be clicked of course)... btw. they should give us analog clock option on taskbar...
