GTA 4: Better graphics with ENB Series Mod

Recommended Posts

The popular ENB Series Mod is extended with GTA 4. Programmer Boris Vorontsov revealed the first screenshots of the new GTS 4 graphics.

Regular visitors of PCGH already know the ENB Series Mods already since we have reported about the modification projects of Boris Voronstov. Now the programmer is dealing with GTA 4. Among other things he integrates sky lighting, realistic shadows (via Screen Space Ambient Occlusion) and modified reflections on cars. But regardless o the graphical improvements the game is supposed to remain at playable framerates.

A download of the GTA 4 mod is not available yet, but we can already offer the first screenshots and comparative pictures. When looking at the pictures please bear in mind that some of the in-game details are set to "low?. The graphical advantages of the Mod (especially the superior lighting) are obvious nevertheless. For more information see the ENB Series Mod website.

No better graphics in sight here. Some slight tidying up in places, but nothing compared to some graphic pack overhauls.

i like the new reflection on car :D

if it doesnt make the game slow, i'll try it.

GTA SA EnB series mod is a gfx. hog. hoping that GTA4 EnB is not like that.

Okay, did people forget to read the article again? The graphics settings were set to "low".

In San Andreas, the ENB Mod just produced Reflection bumps and extreme use of HDR and Bloom that the game was unplayable on machines which could otherwise max out the game comfortably.

They should compare the game and mod on high settings. I'm sure it would bring out more detail. Then again, it would be harder to differentiate the changes.

Is this actually playable yet? I still havent played through and its definately on my PC wishlist. But I dont think my poor little 7900 GT/GTO nvidia can handle it - even though for the record, its sofar taken every other game on the planet i've thrown at it and run smoothly (yes even Crysis and Dead Space).

Apart from the bad AO and brightness, it looks the same.

I'd hate to see how it runs though, ENB by itself can bring a computer to it's knees, GTA4 has no problem doing that itself (since it's so badly ported)

I would find it interesting to see it with a lighter game, like The Sims 2 (everything on max and it's on 20% CPU)

He hooks the DirectX API, basically inserts his code between the game and DirectX, so the game sees normal DirectX, and DiretX sees game+stuff.

It's similar to people hooking it for older games to allow them to run windowed and such.
