TW.4T
Hi, just a quick question, I am running the x64 version of Win7 RC and have just installed VPC (64bit), however, it will not allow me to install any 64bit guest OS. Is this right? If so, why have a 64bit app that will not run 64bit systems? Is there a workaround or will I just need to use vmware (just been reading about Microsoft Hyper-V but unsure exactly what is is (ie. standalone or integrated)). Thanks :)

TW.4T
Can you explain why? just out of curiosity ..
hdood
Because Microsoft hasn't programmed in support for 64-bit guests in Virtual PC. The code simply hasn't been written and isn't there. Virtual PC itself still has to be 64-bit though, because it interfaces directly with the kernel (which is 64-bit only). It's the same way you can't install a 32-bit driver. Hyper-V is a Windows Server component and not very relevant. Your best bet is VirtualBox or VMWare, I believe both support 64-bit guests (and a whole host of other things VPC doesn't). As mentioned before VPC only supports 32bit clients, the Free VMWare Server 2.01 supports 64bit clients and has better support for multiple clients (windows, linux etc..) it will also run on a desktop OS like Windows.
