ZonoBurk
Vista SP2 for a main system for the time being. RC is decent, but I've had a BSoD so it's not perfect. A friend also had FPS problems in TF2. Um I've had more BSoD within the first week of Vista than I've had with Win7 BETA -- which has been none in 4 months. I use Windows 7 has my main and have not had a problem. Jojo81
From my limited experience using virtual machines in vbox, Windows 7 runs smoother than Vista, and the difference is quite remarquable. However, we'd need more serious benchmarks in order to draw any conclusion. there have already been some benchmarks, for all intents and purposes they are even. It does show Windows 7 has a lot of potential though once it is improved upon down the road. "Improving performance is one of Microsoft's design goals with Windows 7, and many early reviewers (including ours) have said that the new OS seems peppier than Vista. But tests of the Windows 7 Release Candidate in our PC World Test Center found that while Windows 7 was slightly faster on our WorldBench 6 suite, the differences may be barely noticeable to users." http://www.pcworld.com/article/164485/wind...tml?tk=rss_news
:: Lyon ::
Well I've ditched my Vista SP2 (dual boot) and use Windows 7 RC as my main now
drbobiii
I've had no problems with Win7 while using it at my main OS. However, I don't depend on my computer for work, school, or anything terribly important at the moment. If I did, I would probably still be using Vista just in case. Or at least dual booting. atleeit
I have both Vista SP2 64bit and Windows 7 RC 7100 64bit, I use Windows 7 mostly for my games, It's stable, faster then SP2 and more enjoyable to use. Just because with your hardware Win7 RC1 runs better then Vista SP2 doesn't automatically mean it's the same for everyone. For the record, I run Vista on all my machines at home, all are rock solid and it's Win7 RC1 that crashes all the time (on my modern 08 laptop, so don't accuse me of running in on old hardware). However, I don't go around claiming Win7 is a POS because it isn't. You cannot state Vista SP2 as being solid just because it's legally out on the market for purchase and they are upto Service pack 2, No way does that make a OS solid. Windows 7 RC7100 is stable comparing it to SP2, Ive run them side by side different machine configs, you may have 08 hardware but Windows 7 might not like a certain component which isn't fully supported yet, When manufacturers start working better with Microsoft and start bringing out Windows 7 drivers, I'm sure you will rethink which OS is stable enough to run, Vista SP2 even with my fast machine does not run as well compared to running RC7100, That's a fact.
