It seems like people who are using Windows XP are more eager to upgrade to Windows 7 than Windows Vista users.

and this poll will prove it! ..or will prove otherwise

I am actually still using Windows XP for my work and other stuff, and I also use Vista just for nothing important. :/

Yay! Way to not influence voting results!

Seems to me that more people are upgrading from Vista instead of XP (at least at current results).

Vista users, Know well how good OS it is, will definetly update to windows 7.

XP Users who don't wanted to upgrade to Vista years now, just follow the hype, "If everyone says Vista is bad, it must be bad"

and "If everyone says windows 7 is good, it must be good".

Win 7 hasn't received the bad press like Vista has, so more people won't have any problems upgrading to it.

Then again, Vista sold really well too, better than XP, so it would be surprising if Win 7 didn't do the same.

I don't know which choice to select. I have not upgraded to Windows 7 (did a clean install - dual boot), nor have I ditched Vista being it is still my current OS.

I really like Windows 7. However, I have no plans on purchasing Windows 7 over my current OS.

Most people won't be upgrading at all. The gain is far too small to be worth the price, and most people just don't care. They will "upgrade" when they buy a new PC.

This prove won't 'prove' jack. I do hope you realise that internet polls are, umm, meaningless.

And to further skew your useless results, this is an internet tech forum. It is in no way representative of 'average' users or real-world numbers at all.

average users hardly know the name windows 7, most of them won't know about it until MS starts marketing it like they always do. and probably they will not give it a try even when it releases, so posting such a poll in a non tech. forum would be useless.

Considering Win7 isn't in retail, this wont reflect true results.

Once Win7 goes retail, i'd expect a lot of people to upgrade, from both XP and Vista.

Average users almost always know that "a new version of Windows" is either out, or coming out. Dealing in my line of business I see this frequently when a new Windows release is about to occur. Sure they may not know the name, but they know enough to either want it, or avoid it.

as of now, the number of people who were using Vista before moving to Windows 7 is more than triple (3x) the number of people who were using XP!

is it because the number of Vista users far exceeds the number of XP users in neowin? maybe

i'm betting on more upgrading from Vista, since given the bad press it's got people who are on Vista are more likely to be the tech crowd who knows what they're doing (and more likely to upgrade OSes) rather than people who just got a random OS on their new computer.

I'm on Vista right now, and will upgrade if a license for Win7 randomly falls out of the sky for me. Both are fine operating systems and far ahead of Windows Xtremely Prehistoric.

Course they will, remember XP has the largest market share, and there's no way the people still using a 8 year old OS can hold on till Windows 8.

I still have my trusty ole XP installed as a dual-boot but have hardly booted back into it at all since installing 7. Which came as a surprise to me. Didn't think I'd get comfy with 7 so easy.
