+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted May 10, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted May 10, 2009 Basically I'm looking for a third person action game with lots of cool moves. I'm a fan of the Devil May Cry series of games and I want something with lots of silly action and nice visual effects. Theres 3 games I'd like to get... but.. I'm only gonna buy one. And Hopefully not regret it. I'm just wondering what you guys think I should get? or if you have any more suggestions. Obviously I already have DMC4! 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2. Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena 3. Star Wars Force Unleashed I'm rippin my hair out! They all seem relatively good. Also I've just noticed that they're all licensed games based on movies. Wasn't intentional!
HawkMan
hmm, yeah they're all excellent games. I think Riddick may give you more for the money for the simple fact I "think" it has some sort of multiplayer though... it also includes the old Escape form Butcher bay as well. Rookas
Riddick is the only one with multiplayer, and two full campaigns as well. I say Riddick should be the obvious choice.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted May 10, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted May 10, 2009 Alright. To be honest I'm not too interested in Multiplayer. My Gold subscription has expired and I've no plans to renew it any time soon. :[
Eric Veteran Posted May 10, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 10, 2009 Go with Riddick. It's gotten good reviews and Butcher Bay was great. :)

Argote
Riddick is an awesome game, however the Butcher Bay part is not button mashing like DMC4, it is a 3rd person game but you need to use stealth and tactics for some fights.

neoadorable
playing Riddick right now, and while it's good and all, i'd say go with Wolverine. It's just that i'm not in the mood for stealth right now. However, it looks like most recommend Riddick.

Coin Toss 1 X-Men Origins (Heads) Riddick (Tails) Result: Tails Coin Toss 2 Riddick (Heads) Star Wars (Tails) Result: Heads It's fate. Riddick won twice in a row, which has a mere 25% chance of happening. Go for Riddick!

+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted May 11, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted May 11, 2009 I bought Riddick and Star Wars. I do prefer Star Wars to be honest. Riddick has some graphical problems.. But the way it plays is very unique and it's still a superb game! I don't regret my purchases. :D Thanks guys. To be honest at first I was going to get Wolverine.. spacer
Out of those games, Riddick is the best. But it's more of a FPS if you ask me. If we could pick any 3rd person action game, mine would be Ninja Gaiden.
lunamonkey
Riddick is 3rd person...? I must be crazy, I was sure it was 1st person.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted May 11, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted May 11, 2009 It is first person - it's just a lot of the advertising and stuff show Riddick in a third person view. So I really had no clear idea which it was gonna be until I actually started playing it.

Chronicles of Riddick will give you the most content because you get Escape from Butcher Bay with it, but I'd personally go with The Force Unleashed. It didn't get great reviews, but I found it to be loads of fun. Played through it a couple times, I think. The demo for Wolverine was pretty good as well. Boz
I think Star Wars is much better than other 2 games. I had a blast with Star Wars. It actually has a good story and feeling of dark force and as you grow into good is really awesome. I mean when you take down the whole space cruiser with Force you'll understand why this is awesome :) And you never get bored of gripping those poor Empire saps and watching them squirm while you slam them into stuff or just vaporize them into laser doors. Plus the enjoyment as you pump up your Force and Sabre moves and the feeling of superiority as you progress in the game. Pretty sweet. Two endings as well. My vote goes to Star Wars. El Marto
i bought xmen thinking i was gonna play it for a few days then trade it in, something to do for a weekend. but i really enjoyed it actually. quite long for a movie game and gameplay is decent. and force unleashed is a great game too. never played riddick. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted May 14, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted May 14, 2009 I mean when you take down the whole space cruiser with Force you'll understand why this is awesome :) Oh man I absolutely hated that part! I've not sworn at a game that much ever before! It was way too finicky! XD But yeah, it was a good game. I've not really played Riddick properly yet - I aim to restart it on a tougher difficulty so I can gauge it properly.
Emily_June
I've only played the Wolverine demo, but it seemed pretty fun--which is where my vote would go. -Emily
iconboy
I rented wolverine and was able to pass it and get 850 points in 2 days My suggestion is that you rent one of these 3 games and hold out for prototype cause if your into 3rd person action with lots of moves prototype will spnk all these games!! Yusuf M. Veteran Posted May 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 23, 2009 Out of three, you should get The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. It features an HD remake of the campaign for Escape from Butcher Bay. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a good game to rent. The campaign isn't too long. You could easily finish it in two days. As for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, I've yet to play it. You could try the demo. I'm sure that's available on Xbox LIVE or PSN.
dcghost
Riddick or Star Wars. I played Star Wars on the 360, it was a blast. Tried out Wolverine on the PC, got stuck at one point that was so ridiculous I quit. Might have just been a glitch in the install, but it made me run in the wrong direction at one point. I have not played Riddick, but have not read much negative on it. Good luck :)
