drbobiii
First let me say that MC in Win7 looks and feels great (as usual). However, there are a few issues that will keep me from using it (as usual) and instead forcing me to use an alternative like TVersity. 1). Format support - Believe it or not, mp3 is not the only audio file format out there. I have .mpc, .ogg, and even some .aac intermixed amongst my .mp3s, and I have been waiting and waiting for MS to acknowledge that such formats even exist. 2). 'album of same name' bug - Lets say I have 10 artists which have an album titled 'Greatest Hits'. If I'm browsing through all the albums of one of those artists and I click on their Greatest Hits album... bam! I suddenly have a list of 200 songs because MC assumes I want to see all songs of every album of the title 'Greatest Hits', and not the ones from the specific artist I'm browsing. This bug has been around in previous versions of MC and apparently never fixed, though it seems like a fairly obvious oversight. 3). Shuffle bug - While playing a music play list on shuffle, I decide to manually choose a song. When that song is over, MC plays the song that previously played. If I choose a different song to avoid hearing a repeat, the next song to play will again be the previous song (which in this case is the first one I manually choose). This behavior continues indefinitely. I want so badly to use Media Center. It is cool, sexy, and functional for the most part. But oversights like these (in particular, the format support) just make it too inconvenient to use. I know some MS employees frequent the forums.. any thoughts? From anyone? XerXis
1) install the codecs, if wmp can play it, wmc can too 2) agreed, very annoying 3) playlist support has become better in wmc 7 but there is much room for improvement. To be honest i still miss the old winamp (before the libraries) style of playlist management. Play shuffled but with the possibility to add a song in the playlist that will be played next
drbobiii
Sorry should have been more clear.. this is using the xbox360 as an extender to the Win7 PC. So in this case, while codecs/filters allow the PC to play more formats, it doesn't work on the xbox.
Pc_Madness
Another one to add to the list...add a folder thats not on a network computer and on startup, W7 / MCE / wmpntwrk.exe (the media sharing service I believe) transfers about 3.5gb worth of data (probably depends upon the size of the folder though) back and forth across the network. :\ I presume its creating thumbnails...
