rlculver
Hi all, I have a client which has a BT mail account, but uses Plus Net to browse the WWW. What they are experiencing, is that they can RECEIVE emails from the BT Accounts, but unable to SEND email via their BT account. Do they have to be connected to BT Internet in order to SEND their BT mail? Cheers Robert
m0
yes, many isps only allow access to their smtp if they are on same service, which i think is to reduce spam, my isp blueyonder does it as well :) m0.

Jon
Thats correct, to send to my BT address I run a local SMTP server. And yeah, its an antispam measure, otherwise the SMTP server would be whats known as an 'open relay'.
