Why does opening pictures behave this way?

Recommended Posts

OK, so I keep all my pics on an external drive. When I double click a pic, it opens but my Explorer window is on top. Why doesn't the Photo Viewer open and be on top? This is like double clicking an mp3 and having iTunes or Winamp opening, but not showing up. Is there any way to remedy this problem?

Anyone?? Surely someone else has this problem seeing as how it's a RC. Not sure if I'm explaining it correctly. I have to minimize my Explorer window in order to see the Photo Viewer/pic.

Start Orb> Default Programs> Set your default programs> Windows Photo Viewer> Set this program as default

Or

Start Orb> Default Programs> Associate..... then find any image file type you want to open and set the default to Windows Photo Viewer.

Or

Simple solution, get a new image viewing software, it will automatically make itself the default. One that comes to mind is Windows Live Photo Gallery.

All my picture files were already associated with WPV. This worked just fine on Vista, but for some reason doesn't do the same thing in W7.

Are your picture files opening in a dialog box? If that is the case and you have your explorer open on top of the window for your external HD, then the dialog box will open in the parent window, in this case the window for the external HD.

I also have the same problem.

This happens when you open an image file associated with ms photo viewer or windows live photo gallery. The focus never change to the file opened. It's like the program where you open it is set to 'Always on top' mode. I tried changing the default program for opening these files to other image viewer software and it works properly.

I'm not sure if this is still present in latest leak version 7127.
