Windows 7 Wont Play Game Crashes With This Message

Recommended Posts

This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see that application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. Now I have heard it is because I am missing the vcredist but it doesn't want to install so I am wondering what else it could be or if anyone else on windows 7 gets or got this error and what they did to fix it.

Thanks,

John

I have tried installing it with xp sp2 compatibilty mode and it hasnt worked yet. I have tried both the game folder one and the one you linked me to with no luck. i am running windows 7 build 7100 if that helps.

is the game GTA4?

On a side not, you don't need a tutorial anymore to install GTA IV on W7, on the RC it's installed exactly like under Vista and it works perfectly. ( Talking about your signature )
