The Canadian
Tweaks are still useful, regardless of how fast 7 runs...!
ozgeek
Don't need this anymore. Microsoft really cleaned Win7 up for sure and using 3rd party tweaking programs can cause you more problems than it could solve you.
notuptome2004
Tweaks are still useful, regardless of how fast 7 runs...! And what tweaks does it still need or need bu then again like above if you need tweaks then your computer is way to old to be running windows 7 . and if windows 7 is freaking ass Fast such as it is for the Rest of us people out their then tweaks wont do anything more
BrY
My computer is not old. It runs Windows 7 fast. I decided to be the guinea pig and check out some of the options. But I notice the speed hasn't been the same since I have it start a lot of programs on startup. I've ran some of the optimizers and its making boot time snappy even with all the programs trying to open all at once. It cleans up the registry, but don't use their version of the "Disk Cleanup" it tries to delete system restore points and I won't let that happen. Other than that, it makes it easier to tweek certain settings, and it always makes restore points before u make those changes. I like it.
notuptome2004
all you need to do is run AV and spyware remover stuff once in awhile and do regular maintaining of the system and you should not have an issue and besides that i myself run alot of programs and dont have any slow downs still as fast as the day i put 7 on the system on the 5th so yea

+Xinok Subscriber² Posted May 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted May 13, 2009 There may be a few good tweakers out there, but most of them are pretty useless and won't make your PC any faster. Some of them can even damage Windows if you're not careful. This is the only tweak utility I use on Vista. Actually makes a noticable difference and is safe from what I can tell. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-...Optimizer.shtml It doesn't do registry tweaks or anything like that. It simply helps you disable Windows services you don't need.

notuptome2004
again Why do you need to tweak something that is already tweaked By Microsoft themselves Windows 7 neeeds NO tweaking end of story
The Canadian
You're obviously not a Power User, we tweak, we build our own PCs...from your statement it's obvious that you're one of the ones who just goes to a big box retailer and buys a pre-made PC and runs it that way! BrY
I just tried using this on Windows 7. One of the settings caused my Internet to not load webpages. IMs and everything else works except any browser data, or gadgets won't update. Had to do a full restore in that program and then reinstall my wireless driver to work. Can you tell me what setting caused that so I won't choose it, but I'll do everything else? Thanks. My system works right now, so ya. BrY
I agree with the Canadian about this. Why would you hate on people that want to tweak their Windows experience. I am very attentive to every little detail about the OS. There are so many simple fixes with these tweak programs, and they generally tell you what each setting does, so if you have any common sense you won't run into trouble, and even then thats why MS gave us SYSTEM RESTORE. Some of us rather take the more adventurous road, and tweak the usability to our liking and do it in a simpler way. It doesn't mean we don't know how to tweak the registry ourselves. Its just that if this is available, why not use it. Don't hate. Some of us have obsessive qualities about some minor things to get it to our liking. Thank you very much. Even though certain Vista applications work on 7, something like this -- Vista Services Optimizer -- I'd only use on Vista which is what it was meant for. Quillz
I like software like this because it lets me do tweaks to the OS that are minor, but useful. I like being able to remove the shortcut arrows, put the drive letters before the drive name, etc. This is stuff that I wish was built into Windows, but until it is, I'll have to rely on software like this to get it done. Tweaking for the most is a thing of the past considering how refined Windows 7. But yes, there might be a few selective minor annoyances that are strictly user-specific preferences. For the most part, it is very easy to get used to something if you give it some time rather than being quick to tweak it.

I think less time should be tweaking the computer and more time actually looking after it, that's a disgrace. :p "Tweaking" applications are coming things of the past, while a lot of tweaking are useful like getting Short cut arrows etc, the ones which say they can speed up your computer often do the reverse effect and slow it down. So what if your computer boots faster if you disable superfetch, now everything else on the system is going to be slow. At the end of the day, you're not going to notice anything once SSD's become mainsteam.
BrY
Getting back on topic, the "accelerators" are of no use. Don't know if cleaning the registry and defragging it is going to make things smoother, but this product's "drive cleaner" seems to be dysfunctional. The results and options to delete certain things can't be seen in the entire window. So that feature shouldn't be used. Other than that, those little mods are good to use, as is the purpose of using this program.
