Windows Feedback Program will give out gifts

Recommended Posts

What it means, if true, is that you'll receive a copy within 3 months it has been released in the US... not a resident of the US. The caveat is what the email says after the "provided that:" part.

Got one too it says....

To encourage your continued participation in the Windows Feedback Program using Windows 7 RC, we will send you a copy of the commercially released version of Windows 7 Ultimate as a gift* within 3 months of its general availability in the US provided that:

1. You are a US resident of age 18 or older;

2. You signed up for the Windows Feedback Program through the Windows 7 beta Community Preview Program; and

3. You have sent data using the Windows Feedback Program automated instrumentation software from Windows 7 RC for at least 4 months.

We would appreciate it if you continue your participation in the Windows Feedback Program after receipt of the gift and send us data using the automated instrumentation software on the commercially released version of Windows 7. However, it is not a condition of the gift. We may offer more incentives if you do.

Thank You

The Windows Experience Team

Faikee, I noticed this at the end of the email

* The gift will be sent to a postal address in the US only. It is not redeemable for cash and is non-transferrable. If the gift is returned as non-deliverable, it will not be resent

See if you can find a friend or contact in the US who's willing to ship it back to you. You'll just need a US mailing address. It'll be well worth it since the FPP value of Ultimate is pretty high.

Thanks for the advice, I'll cross my fingers.

I had intended to buy a new PC next year with Win7 HP pre-installed, now......

Why only US? It almost makes them look that they are the only country on Planet Earth.

I can't speak for this case, but some countries make things like this difficult, that's why they just stick with the U.S.

I just got one of those e-mails myself... I guess I'll go ahead and install the RC. :)

As for the US-only, I imagine it's because the feedback program collects data and they don't want to worry about privacy laws in other country.

Nice to hear that. Windows Beta Program participants have also received RTM Ultimate keys in the past so I guess this time won't be an exception :).

You have to be a participant in the Windows Feedback Program. You can find more info about it here - https://wfp.microsoft.com/Welcome.aspx Unfortunately they haven't taken new participants in a couple of months but it is worth trying to get into this program. I joined last year and so far I have received Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 (worth about $350!). I also just got an email last month telling me that if I participate for another 4 months that I will get another copy of Office Ultimate. I hope I get an email saying that they will send me Windows 7 Ultimate instead! That would be fabulous!

Why limit it to the US? You could download it from anywhere without problems.

Besides that, the language in that screenshot is Chinese, not Japanese.

So you should say 谢谢 (xi?xie):

There's privacy issues they have to deal with, and there's all sorts of legal hoops they have to jump through to just give out Windows. Things such as taxes and such you have to beware of. It's just so much of a hassle, and the cost of hiring lawyers and such to make sure what they are doing is legal in all countries, and making it all work is just not worth the tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars they would spend just to send people gifts.
