What could change from RC to RTM

Recommended Posts

Other than bugs getting fixed, here is my wild guess

1. New Games

2. New wallpapers ( :p )

3. New icons

4. Revamped Control Panel

Yeah, those are very wild guesses. Bugs with high impact will probably get fixed; Minor bugs with high replication counts may get fixed. That's it. Paul Thurrott got drunk one night, did some speedballing, and said something about a new user interface. It's not going to happen.

Only thing I'm expecting are some new start and shutting down sounds and icons to differentiate more from Vista UI..

Plus the background wallpaper that comes by default..

That's it in my opinion..

The only things likely to change now that you will notice will be minor graphical/sound changes. Vista didn't get it's final default sound and desktop themes until the RTM.

I agree with everything you posted!

I am really hoping they have will update icons like My Computer, Recycle Bin, Network and any other left over icons from Vista :)

And I really hope they can fix alot more reported bugs by the time RTM come out!!!!

or how about when you move the bar to the left side (in order to get more horiz. paging space and take advantage of wide screen) you can reverse the button field so start button remains at bottom left. Having Start at the top of the left-docked bar is unwieldy, like learning to be left handed.

Is there a way to do this now?

Not a damn thing.

You don't know what a RC really is do you?

If you really know, then teach. Don't berate people for coming to a forum to learn.

It speaks volumes about you, not them.

Why be so patronising when there are clearly changes to be made? For example, the startup sound still has to change and I wouldn't be surprised if other sounds change in RTM.

Release Candidates in short mean its just down to fixing show stopping bugs that are left... the feature set has been completed. So very little changes should occur from now to final.

LOL

I think all that will happen is that there will be bug fixes, and some minor UI changes. This is what happened between Vista RC and RTM.

Thats the "text-book" definition of RC. However, for MS things have changed more drastically between RC and RTM in earlier versions of windows...

Aside from new sounds in Vista... Microsoft typically doesn't change things in the RC phase.
