geoken
Here are the basic steps I took. 1. changed the homegroup password (8 charachters, all lowercase, all letters, no special characters/spaces) 2. went to my other PC and connected it to the homegroup 3. went back to my main PC and found that it was completely locked up. CTRL+ALT+DEL did nothing, it needed a manual reset. Once I rebooted my pc made it to the desktop but locked up again as soon as the network services were being loaded. I rebooted again with the exact same result. I then booted into safe mode and made the following changes in network settings; -Reduced the Home Group encryption -disabled password protected sharing -enabled network discovery I then rebooted and everything was fine although the other computer in the homegroup was sleeping by this time so I don't know if that was a factor (I didn't have time in the morning to check it). I'm guessing the issue was caused by the encryption settings as it's the only thing I can imagine would cause a hard lock. Has anyone had a similar experience?
