Windows 7 RC b7100 is another beta

They are in no way show stopping.

While I agree with most of the responses here (somethings wrong with your install), this statement is obviously false.

"Games are not working". That's pretty show-stopping.

Everything works fine for me. If you did an upgrade install, that's probably why (Microsoft recommended against it). Otherwise, you might not have downloaded it from Microsoft or you got a bad burn.

i think this guy downloaded his copy of window s7 from a torrent and it may be a bad corrupted version of window 7 so i would recommend ya re-download it from Microsoft here is the link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx both 32bit and 64bit so you choose cause i have yet to see any issue and i think if there was such issue as you shown us ther be alot of freaking complaints about it

Yeah, this looks like a driver issue.

The games work fine for me, and my icons don't disappear.

I've got it installed on two machines.. one is my main rig at home with an ATI card and the other is a Dell at the office with Intel integrated graphics and I haven't encountered anything that outright doesn't work.

such problems don't exist on my system... in fact, its stable enough to be my main system (with vista as a backup just in case)...

with my geforce 9650m gt, i find that the latest nvidia drivers for both vista x86 and windows 7 x64 completely unreliable. noise would appear on my screen, then minutes later crash my system. I'm currently using the drivers available thru windows update/windows update catalog.

using the latest drivers doesn't always mean its the most reliable. try dling win 7 again and re-install it.

I have to agree with the bugs in the RC. I've gotten a few dozen BSODs and other random bugs.

Sounds like these "bugs" listed in this thread are either driver related, install related or hardware related. Not OS related.

I've been using RC 7100 64-bit since it was available from the official Microsoft RC page. Never had any of the bugs listed

in this thread. Never had even one BSOD. Rock solid and being used as my primary OS.

I think Windows 7 RC is another beta release for testing. It is more buggy for a Release "Candidate". Now i am using Windows 7 Release Candidate and often experiencing lots of bugs. Some are really disturbing. For example taskbar button of an application is often disappears.

Microsoft named this second beta to RC. Because, they wanted to reach larger users. For example i never installed and tried beta and leaks. But when it gets RC, i gave a chance to this upcoming OS. There are lots of people like me. Most people waits until a more complete and less buggy build (RC) is released.

Microsoft named this second beta release to Release Candidate. Because, they wanted to say that "everything is on its way" after Windows Vista failure. Because a second beta is to cover first beta's bugs and to prevent users to send feedback of old-known bugs. a second beta means there are too many bugs to be fixed... But RC means its feature complete, and ready to be fixed. They wanted: "A beta version -> A RC version -> Final RTM version"

There are lots of small and big bugs in RC too. Taskbar preview, Word-wrap bug in Notepad (still), etc.

Remember Betta fish in RC desktop? In this OS, Microsoft worked carefully on every little detail. Microsoft also made some visual improvements and small tweaks in OS "before its getting RTM". Release Candidate versions is always (and should be) more complete and bugless releases than betas. But still betta fish on RC's desktop?

I think Windows 7 Release Candidate = Windows 7 Beta 2

What do you think about that? Please share your thoughts...

Here is some of my experiences with Windows 7 "Release Candidate"

My Computer Icon?

<images snipped>

For me, the only things that don't work are my printer, and my camera (no official driver releases yet), but everything else works just as it did in Vista, I use Nero 8 and it works perfectly, and all the games work on my install also

Sure it is the latest one? I didnt think you could make the Superbar look like it does in vista

Yes you can. Click "never combine", "use small icons" and unlock the taskbar. It looks very close to Vista's taskbar.

Same here. Using it as main OS since 7000 and never had a single Bsod on *any* build.

I wouldn't rule out the OS to be reasonably bug free at this point. Just two days ago I reinstalled the RC on my desktop to see if it'll resolve a bug with images not resizing properly in the preview pane. Basically the image previews won't extend beyond 256x256 pixels. It has since disappeared after the reinstall, and I'm currently reinstalling each app one by one to see which one may be the culprit, or if it was really a OS bug.

Also as a rare bug - every now and then there would be a "GDI+ Window" showing up in the taskbar. Usually it's hidden from view. There was one extremely rare condition I saw before that ALL the hidden windows - probably one for every control drawn per window - showed up as grouped tasks in XP.
