Windows 7 7127 - What's New?

Recommended Posts

Media Player integration has had a good looking at, as already mentioned the Album Art bug from 7100 is fixed. I also noticed that WMP seems to work better with Libraries as well, for instance when I started WMP up for the first time my playlists were already populated instead of me having to specify a library etc. Hopefully this means the "Forgetful playlists" bug is fixed as well.

Had a problem with Daemon tools 4.30.4 after my initial upgrade (install/restart loop) but it's working fine on a fresh 7127 install.

Installing NWN2 as I type and applying the bazillion updates (didn't work in 7100), will report back.

Edit/

Good news, the rumours of game compatibility fixes post 7122 are correct, NWN2 works just fine with no messing about. There has obviously been some DX fixes as well. Good to see some solid progress, thoroughly recommend 7127 and also recommend a fresh install as opposed to an upgrade.

How is the general system performance compared to 7100? It would be wonderful if you could tell me if you had better performance in earlier builds than 7100 as well.

I think that's subjective to be honest, you need to give 7 time to index and superfetch so judging perfrmance right now is hard to do.

Having said that, 7127 is the best build I have used, system appears to be a bit more responsive and my niggles with 7100 are fixed already (game compatability, WMP issues).

What's the easiest way to upgrade from 7100 to this build? Just run the install from within 7100?

Will it retain all my settings from 7100 (app installs, etc)?

I assume the same way by modifying that file in the sources dir.

I find 7127 to be more responsive than 7100. Nothing appears to be broken so far.

The responsiveness is usually just the clean-windows-syndrome :p

Codec 'packs' are the single-most worst thing you can ever install. Way to screw up a machine.

Be smart and selective about the codecs you install. Use gknot to determine a file's codec requirements and install only the codecs needed to manage your files.

That Office looks a bit...Meh. But I suppose that's not the full lot. I'm surprised that it hasn't leaked yet.
