Win 7 64bit -- 7100 to 7127 upgrade

Recommended Posts

I did an upgrade first, had problems with Daemon Tools but everything else seemed ok. However, I ended up doing a fresh install just to give me some peice of mind and I'm glad I did, my system seems more responsive.

Is it true you do not get Windows Updates in 7127?

Probably true, MS will give some support to RC, but 7127 is just another beta.

I have just updated from 7100 to 7127. Ive had no problems at all and everything is working as it did before.

The upgrade took about an hour (E6750 @3.4Ghz & 6GB RAM).

It has just installed an update for Visual Studio 2008 through Microsoft Update so that seems to be working as it should.

Well, 7127 is part of the RTM branch of builds, and the reason you don't see updates is because the updates are already included in the build, because it is newer than RC.

The difference is that if a critical bug shows up now or two months from now, the fix will be backported to the RC and made available via Windows Update. For unsupported private builds, there is little reason to spend time and effort on this, even if they are affected.
