Snipping Tool bug in Win 7 RC and 7127

Recommended Posts

I believe I found a bug with the Snipping Tool. Try using the Snipping Tool to snap a maximized window. Start>Snipping Tool>New>Window Snip. It also includes the upper part of the taskbar in the screenshot. It seems like the tool wasn't adjusted for the different height of Windows 7's new taskbar. Anyone else see this?

That's not a bug with the snipping tool more a bug with window sizes when maximised. The API returns a rectangle that is bigger than the window and so overlaps the taskbar at the bottom and to the left/right if you have a second monitor there.

I can confirm the bug in 7127. If you use Window Snip for a not-maximised window, it works fine, but with a maximised window, it cuts of a bit of the taskbar :pinch:

Another weird thing about the snipping tool: in the preview window of what you just captured, scrolling seems to work differently than in other windows.

The window's actual scroll controls work perfectly, but my touchpad's scroll areas don't. The scrollbars themselves move when I use my touchpad's scroll areas, but the viewing area does not change until I click inside it.

It seems to take longer to capture whatever it is we want to capture as well. Before the RC when I clicked on the area I'm attempting to capture it would do it instantly now however there is a 10 second or so delay.

I think the desktop area extends a little bit under the taskbar.

A selection box has this little blue border. When I drag a selection box to the bottom of the desktop, and the bottom line goes under the taskbar a bit.

Not sure if that was clear, I'll post a screenshot to clarify if needed.

dcoaster: Read my post (#4), if you have a second monitor to the left/right you'll see it also extends the selection rectangle onto the second monitor slightly. This is what the API gives the snipping tool (and any other app that uses the standard API to find a window's size)

Its not doing it in 7127 for me. I have the taskbar at the top though.

I also have it at the top, and it *does* do that for me - there's a small stripe of the taskbar on top of the maximised window :pinch:
