Buying new computer...free upgrade to windows 7?

Recommended Posts

It works if the manufacturer you get the PC from is part of an upgrade program and gives you an upgrade voucher with the machine, which you can then use to get a copy when it's released. As far as I know, no manufacturers have released any details or dates, so the only thing you can do is wait and see.

What manufacturers usually do this?

Yeah 'tis annoying having to wait. I will wait though, but I will need a computer since I am attending Uni in September.

I talked to Dell today and asked that same exact question as I was checking into a notbook for a friend. They don't have any confirmation on this upgrade program with them. Just keep your eyes open as Microsoft will contract with retail outlets.

thanks for your help. Does this also extend to the shops or do you have to specifically buy the computer from the manufacturer (if that makes sense). I.e. can you buy it from pc world etc
