The Sims 3 Leaks, EA Calling A Plumber

Recommended Posts

There's a non cracked one.

thanks for trying tho. Crackers don't just magically make EXE's out of thin air.

*Sigh* Read what I have previously stated first, then speak.

Something tells me EA is doing this just to see what the public's reaction is.

Think about it.

Spore was less than stellar and the DRM ridden copy caused so much crap ..

How do you get back into peoples good graces?

Leak 3 or so games.

Act stupidly surprised.. reap the publicity.

Good, some solid evidence. I would have loved to provide a lot of details in each post but this is walking on a fine line with the Neowin rules. When 'my friend' tried the game, he was never prompted to replace the cracked .exe in the directory, coupled with the fact that the NFO states you need to block the game, one could easily assume you'd need to download the .exe first from the official servers. I have no idea why there wasn't an .exe present but there wasn't, I'm 100% sure - Could be a system fluke then?

What annoys me is there are some great anti-piracy measures available today, the main ones require an online connection but would the additional sales would probably weigh up the people without an internet connection. The developers have plenty of possibilities to secure their game yet they keep doing this securROM, DRM and whatnot rubbish - I just don't feel sorry for developers any more.

Not really. The only great anti piracy measures available are hardware dongles and even they are crackable.

They just need to deploy online verification to even enter the main menu by accounts and a genuine CD-key, like some games do. Why developers aren't exploring these options are beyond me. Plus, there is a tank simulator ( can't remember the name ) which is the only game that I know of that uses a USB Memory stick as anti-piracy, that game has yet to be cracked.

I agree, why do you think there is not a single steam game cracked? ;)

I believe this is EA fault but not for having a leak.

I think that they may have shipped to retailers TOO early and therfore it has leaked by some source.

I think it was a disgruntled EA employee. Namely, EA's chief janitor. He got them good this time, and made enough $$$ from selling the game image to Chinese counterfeiters to retire.

16k leechers... it just makes me sick. and people wonder why we are getting cheap ports. these bootleggers/pirates are killing the PC gaming industry.

you must have a weak stomach if you think 16k people is alot of people, also what were you doing there anyways

He's being sarcastic, pretty much every steam released has been cracked.

I've read a couple of reports that some stores have been putting out boxed copies early, no idea if that's true or not (if it is, it means that it could be anyone anywhere that leaked it, not an EA guy)

Anyway, found this on another forum, thought you guys might be interested (The music's cool)

That video was awesome! I can't wait to play it now. I don't think I will surface out of my computer room for a few weeks after I get this.

amusing sidenote on the leak...my kid called me from school today cuz she had heard at lunch that it had leaked...she wanted to know if it was true...the volume of the combined teenage squeal of her and her friends when i told her it was left me half deaf for a minute lol

I wanna see a review already, such a huge number of seeders is a good thing imo, if theres so many now think about how many copies they are gonna sell on release.

Now nobody should have the lame excuse "This game has draconian copy protection system, Hence I pirate it."

Me holding on to the release date. Oh wait!!! i choose to have life instead. Sorry EA.

The only Protection this is gunna have is a serial. That will register with a server, and that is it. No limit on installed copies like spore

apparently the fast forward button is alot slower than it used to be, and the game is better optimized than the sims 2 and yes some stores already have it

I wonder if it would be worthwhile if EA brought forward the release date.

It might stop some people pirating, just because its available online.
