Request - TV/Movie Subforum

Recommended Posts

Well I noticed that there is no actual forum here for TV and Movie news. Considering Rappy has over 40k posts on those subjects, would it be possible or even interest for that matter for such a forum? I'm sure Rappy would love to be the 'entertainment reporter' so to speak, and its always enjoyable reading up on what new news he has.

Like for example:

Forums

- Media Room

-- Movies

-- TV Shows

Just think it would be better and easier to find things as well if it was managed like that.

Thoughts?

Yet more sub forums :p

This place already competes with the poor souls in the TV show "LOST" as new members need to take a full week to find all of our forums, in fact I am surprised no-one ever thought to bring out a paperback "Tutorial to using Neowin" book :p

I like the idea but its been discussed before and I think it was shot down then :p but I like it as it is as long as there's like 1 thread for each season/movie and not multiple threads that happen.

I like the thought that people think of me

I think it's a good idea, after all there are a lot of TV shows and films. :p

I don't think the Neowin forums are hard to navigate at all. Gaming isn't exactly inside the music forum...

Thats why I suggested it Raps. It is just kinda hard to find stuff in regards to tv shows and movies since its scattered all over the place in the media room. Anyway its just an idea, I guess its upto the powers that be if it moves ahead or anything :)

And yeah I was thinking like below thread wise, for example:

Forums

- Media Room

-- Movies

---- Star Trek thread

---- Terminator Salvation thread

---- whateveriscomingoutthatsgunnabeagoodmovielol thread

-- TV Shows

---- Smallville thread

---- 24 thread

---- Dollhouse thread

etc etc

As for you Neo, im sure there is a book out there somewhere :p

"idiots guide to Neowin" maybe at your local Angus & Robertson or Chapters bookstore lolol

Michael - its not that its hard to navigate, its just that there is so much stuff everywhere finding something that your after is kinda hard. Not to mention if you look - Rappy is the one who starts these threads most of the time, hence why I suggested him being Neowin's 'entertainment reporter' :)

I would maybe like to see more tags infront of things like

[Music] New Green Day Album

[Movie] Transformers 2

[TV] Lost Season 6 - Discussion

Might make things a little easier to read, almost like the Jokes and funny stuff section

Yeah I have started a tag system that I will use now

for example

[Fox] Sons of Tucson - Season 1 (you know its tv because its a season and you know the network)

^not such a good system if you are not in the US and might not be clear what some of the more obscure networks are...

[TV] is good enough :)

True but I don't know many shows on TNT etc plus a Season is a series nearly everyone knows that but I use it for the ones I have done so far but will use [TV] in future to keep peace :)

Seems to me this is a much better idea than adding more subforums... I've seen a lot of forums with tons of subforums with each only having 2-3 topics at most.

+1, Dont at all like the TAG idea, as in will it help while we do a search or it would it rather throw at me a "sting too small" error.

What about [TV-*Network*]? e.g. [TV-Fox]? In that way, members could search for the relevant network, because the search term would be more than 3 characters (or whatever the limit is). It is longer than just having [TV] or [Fox] but I think it's worth it. However, if I could have only one or the other, then probably the network tag is more intuitive.

Everything in Canada is broadcast over multiple networks or just over CTV. You guys need to remember we have users from all around the globe on this forum, and many don't even get some stations like you guys do! I don't get "The CW" in Canada.. At least I really don't think so.
