Is Microsoft's ZuneX Really Their Portable Xbox Phone?

These leaked photos of the ZuneX (ZX-1000) may or may not be Microsoft's handheld device that combines the Zune with the Xbox. But we do have specs. And it may be a phone.

Mimbee.tv's got a grainy shot from a conference that may or may not be real, a shot of a guy holding a ZuneX in his hand that looks more photoshopped than not, and a list of specs:

? 4-inch display at 640x363 resolution

? Custom Intel LV Atom DualCore 733MHz processor

? Custom Nvidia BLowFish chipset

? 128MB RAM

? 40 hour music, 14 hours of video, 9 hours of gaming and 6 hours of gaming with the wireless on

? 4 analog buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, an analog stick attachment

? 32GB flash storage

? Support for BluetootSIM Card tray>SIM Card tray (it's a phone! Maybe!)

? Xbox Live Arcade Games

? ZuneX Originals

? OnLive Ready game streaming (now we're just getting a little ridiculous)

? WMV, H.264, MPEG-4 and DivX support

It's still solidly in rumor territory and will probably stay that way until at least E3. If we had to judge from the specs, it's slightly too good to be true. As if someone NOT working at Microsoft wrote up their dream specs Source: Gizmodophone"]Gizmodo[/url]

Look interesting if it's true, but I hope ,if it's a phone, that a phone-less version is also included.

But I don't put my hopes too high for that thing right now. I will wait official details...

The left buttons are just a straight copy from the Playstation controllers. It's not Microsoft's.

And oh, if it is really a mockup it's a bad one. Some things just aren't symmetric while they should be. (like the little tab thingy below the screen is not in the middle, something Microsoft wouldn't do in a mockup)

analogue stick "attachment"?

So even after the PSP debacle they're going for one optional stick? Now I don't know if they'd use a stick or not, but surely it's two or nothing at this point?

And I'm calling fake on the pictures, if only due to the fact the D-pad is exactly like the one on a DualShock, and they're all horribly copyrighted.

Looks like Braid to me?

Thats what i though.

If i can transfer all my arcade games though. This is a buy for me.

By the looks of that, it reminds me of the look of the Zune 1.

Also, it may not be a phone. Maybe the simcard slot is for 3g broadband... Anyone remember Live Anywhere?

Good call! That would be a cool addition. I'm skeptic of the whole leak anyways, but I thought it would make for good discussion.

I doubt it, the games would need to be converted

I'd personally love to see a ZuneX "XBOX Portable" device. I wouldn't really care if it had phone capabilities or not. It does look very GBA Micro-esque, which I quite liked.

Also, this device seems similar in spec to the XBOX - perhaps we could also see the XBOX games on there too?

haha i like the way this is going. instead of making thephones work faster and be able to play good games, they are makeing handheld devices be able to make calls and be phones. this is sweet... can't wait till my gameboy color gets a simcard extension and pokymon is back in style.
