Windows 7 64bit RC

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am using Windows RC 64bit and it has been running well and even my Toshiba 64bit utilities (for Vista 64bit) have installed and are also working ok but, I am having one problem and that is with my 'six media buttons', (Internet, Media, Play/Pause, Stop, Rewind, Forward).

I've installed the Toshiba 64bit software that would allow the buttons to work in the 64bit mode but none of the buttons work now.

Toshiba have an additional download that is supposed to make the buttons work in a 64bit OS but after downloading the software which contains three files, tvalz_o (Type - Security Catalog), TVALZ_O (Type - Setup Information), TVALZ_O.sys (Type -System file), you should 'right-click' the setup inf file and click on "Install" but when I try this, I get the following message, "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation".

Does anyone know how to get the INF file to install, or where in Windows 7 these three files should be placed?

Even if I do this, the media buttons may not work but it's worth a try.

Regards

Look into your device manager for a missing driver (yellow exclamation mark).

Right click on it and select update device driver and then browse for the folder where you extracted your files.

Hi jbo

You response sounded great but unfortunately I do have any problem devices in device manager - it's clear.

The six media buttons are just under the display at the top of the keyboard.

Those buttons on my Toshiba A300-20P work without any problems and aditional drivers on Win7 RC 64bit. They work in Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic and Winamp.

Hi Eddie1506

Thanks for your reply.

Did you install any of the Toshiba Utilites (64bit versions), like value added package, config free, sdcard utils, etc?

I installed them all and they work just fine.

The media buttons are part of the VAP (I think) and as stated in my first post, there are three files which Toshiba say are needed for the Toshiba Utilities to work correctly on a 64bit OS, but again, as stated in my post, what folders/dir, do these three files go in Windows 7?

I've obviously got something wrong but although it would be nice to get the media buttons to work, I'm not going to go overboard about them, though I seem to remember that they worked in an earlier build of Windows 7, with no other Toshiba software installed.

Regards
