Sims 3 Shuts Off Comp Win7127 (64-Bit) few minutes after loading!

Theres always one that says something stupid like this, he would still have the same issues if he bought the game or not, its not crashing because he may or may not be a pirate. If you have nothing worthwhile to add dont post.
It's definitely relevant since the cracked .exe is several megabytes larger than the native one.

Why is this thread even still open?

We don't have significant proof his " copy " is legit, and we're all essentially condoning and encouraging piracy.. something I thought Neowin didn't allow.

Im bored of the holier than thou attitude a lot of people have on this forum, no one is condoning piracy his issue was with his laptop running Windows 7 shutting down after a few minutes, he isnt asking for help with how to crack Sims people need to lighten up, there is no proof either way wether his copy is legit or not and unless you work for an anti-piracy agency butt out.

At least if the game was released... c'mon, some guy in HK, trying to run the unreleased Sims 3 on his leaked build 7127 of Windows 7...

What do you care?

Does it affect you personally that he pirated the game?

Are you telling me youve never used anything pirated ever?

Can you guys please chill out with the whole "ahoy" ****, it's getting old. If you can't help the guy, then don't post.

There are a few things you can try, for one, run it in XP Compatibility mode, take ownership of the Sims 3 directory, check and see if "Automatically Restart" is unchecked to ensure if it does restart randomly, it's not from a blue screen of death or a driver error. Update your drivers, and use Vista based drivers since they are compatible with Windows 7.

*yawn*

Anyway, assuming Windows 7 is similar to XP in this regard, OP should turn off the "Automatically restart" option when Windows crashes. In XP it was in the System Properties dialog, Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery Settings button, System failure area. Not sure where it is in 7 but probably in a similar place. That way, when it crashes, a blue screen with an error code, details and the file that caused it will be displayed. Post that info here.

I was just pointing out that it was naive to believe he had a legit copy.

Everything else has been said, try compatibility mode, troubleshoot your temperatures, etc. In the end you're dealing with non-genuine software how do you know it hasn't been tampered with...

It doesn't matter if the software being pirated affects anyone here at all or whether someone has or hasn't ever pirated software before ...ever or not.

If the OP thinks its a problem with Sims 3 then he should contact EA support forums as this is where he would have got the software from if it was an early release.

If it was via a torrent and a copy of the early leak then he has no place asking for help on getting it to work on these forums.

Seeing as the OP posted this thread in the "Windows 7 Beta" section of the forum I assume he thinks its a problem with the OS

OP Back to you to fill in the gaps.
