Mouse pointer speed in Windows 7 (and Vista) too slow

Recommended Posts

I have the Logitech MX 500 - an old mouse no doubt, but has worked well for me in XP.

The problem is that in both Vista and Win 7, the pointer speed is too slow for my taste. And yes, I have put the speed to max in the mouse controls. In XP, putting the mouse speed to medium-high gave me enough speed, but that is not the case with Vista and W7.

Would buying a new mouse even help, since this seems like a software limitation that was not in XP?

I guess, I'm just to a fast mouse pointer speed - less strain on my wrist as less movement of mouse.

This is a big issue for me that actually stopped me from buying Vista. My wrist actually hurt with Vista and W7 RC.

Any ideas?

If having the speed up to max being 'slow' for you, you must have it crazy sensitive?!

Grab a gaming mouse that's also ergonomic, they go to 2000/4000 dpi. That's fast.

So a higher dpi mouse will increase mouse pointer speed on screen?

Yes, max IS slow on the mx-500. It's not overly sensitive, as no one else using my computer as said so.

Have you tried setpoint?

Not available for mx500, but I'll give it a try since i also have the mx revo..thanks

Well I would think so considering that when I change the setting on my Sidewinder, the movement slows.

My mouse (mx1000) is too slow as well, especially for using it on 1920x1200. So I use SetPoint, and on the second tab (mouse movement), I set the speed to max and the acceleration to medium. Works fine!
