Gibletz
look i made videohttp://vimeo.com/4255076?pg=embed&sec= nice Biggest fail of a concept video by the biggest windows fanboi, Cullen Dudas. If I smack my face against the keyboard rapidly and start vomiting on my screen, I'll come up with a better UI than that piece of work.. devHead
Biggest fail of a concept video by the biggest windows fanboi, Cullen Dudas. If I smack my face against the keyboard rapidly and start vomiting on my screen, I'll come up with a better UI than that piece of work.. We all look forward to seeing it. Hopefully slamming your head on your keyboard and vomiting on your screen will also produce some more civil comments than the ones apparently your fingers and brain are doling out presently. But since you speak so rudely and disparagingly of something that clearly took a lot of time and is actually pretty good in some spots, it's unlikely that you could really do any better than him, vomiting or not. FaiKee
If anyone is interested, I would suggest google "windows midori". btw, don't bother to look for screen-shots, you may find thumbnails, but all originals are removed.

Office 2007 -> 12.0 Office 2010 -> 14.0 They skipped it because they're extremely superstittious and wanted to avoid the number 13

The_Decryptor Veteran Posted May 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 22, 2009 I doubt MS are going to re-write Windows 8 in Sing# (Midori is a managed microkernel)
FaiKee
I think MS is going to dump the NT kernel altogether for windows 8. Would it mean NTFS would become history too??

Digitalfox
They skipped it because they're extremely superstittious and wanted to avoid the number 13  I know that, but it just proves my point, they can use version 8.0 on Windows 8, nothing is stoping them doing it if they want... RvXtm
Come on people... wait a little longer. It is sad if Microsoft decides to drop the x86. From what i heard they will make win8 x64 only. Bad idea. This should wait another 4-5 years.
Brandon Live Veteran Posted May 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 23, 2009 Fake. I just love how the version number is "8.1" :p Maybe MS just wanted a change.google "windows midori kernel", many posts mentioned it. Brandon Live Veteran Posted May 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 23, 2009 MS originally wanted to use 7.0 for Windows 7, but dropped that plan due to pressure from hard-and software vendors who feared compatibility issues. Thus, Windows 8 (or whatever it will be named) will be 7.0 - anyone claiming it to have 8.0 (or even 8.1) is already fake by default :pinch: That makes no sense. Windows 7 is 7.0. The versioning APIs return 6.1 for app compat purposes. At this point nobody knows what the version after Windows 7 will be called, nor what the versioning APIs will return. API-wise, personally the only thing I think that wouldn't make sense would be if it returned "7.0." That really makes no sense at all, we already have Windows 7. Xerxes
Oh Really??? Did you know they skipped a version in office? Office 2007 -> 12.0 Office 2010 -> 14.0 So why not skip 7.0 and go straight to 8.0 to mach the name?? You do know why they skipped the version number don't you? 13 is considering unlucky and being superstitious MS (and many other companies for that matter) choose to skip that number all together and go straight to 14. Unless 7 is also unlucky, I doubt they'd just skip it for fun. EDIT: Nevermind, someone beat me to it :p I know that, but it just proves my point, they can use version 8.0 on Windows 8, nothing is stoping them doing it if they want... What point? MS skipped the number for a reason, plain and simple. They aren't gonna make a big version jump for no reason, it's illogical (while yes they have artificially bumped up the version numbers before, however, it was by relatively small amounts to round up the number not entire version numbers).
