soniqstylz
Got word from my best friend, who knows someone at R* SD, that Take Two is killing off the Midnight Club franchise. Which makes no sense, since the series has been a good seller (something like 12 million copies over 6 games, if you include the PSP "Remix" as seperate games). Will post more if news comes out. I guess they were gonna make new cities as DLC/disc versions of MCLA, so one game could play all cities and have cars playable in all cities, but now the entire studio is working on Red Dead Revenge. Unimatrix Xero
it was rubbish in anycase
Gotenks98
it was rubbish in anycase I agree, it stopped being good after the second game in my opinion. It just started to become so ghetto after that with the way things were going.
Ayepecks
My friend who works at Rockstar higher up than your friend told me that the franchise isn't getting canceled and they're actually deciding on making Grand Theft Auto: Midnight Club. Yeah, you've just been story topped!
bangbang023 Veteran Posted May 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 20, 2009 I like the latest game, though the difficulty is a bit hit and miss.
-KJ
I enjoyed MC and MC2 on PS2. I haven't tried third one yet.
Ricardo Gil
I kind of lost interest on this last one, I'm more of a Burnout fan I guess.
Advent
During 'Game with developers' the two R* devs I played with (RkstrSDCode1 RkstrSDDesign1) both said there are already plans of development on another Midnight Club game. They were actually quite interested in the feedback too of their current one, Midnight Club: LA, and enjoyed listening to the fans ideas. Everything I see "a friend that knows some who works for, a friend's dad/uncle/mom/dad/cat/dog/lemur/" or anyone of that it makes whatever is following it very unpractical. For right now, I hope they just continue to update MCLA with new areas and new cars/trucks?/bikes etc. My only complaints on their current one is: The story is completely useless, game freezes alot while online in MP, and that they changed the speed and handling on all the cars/bikes. On certain cars the new speed and handling are awesome, but on most its stupid. Such as this: In a straight away, a lambo can now beat a S7... Sethos
Sounds like an "Overheard on the train" story.

Which is why I kept it as rumor, but these guys talk more than on a gamer's day, tho that's how they met, but they generally AIM directly. I've met another dev there a couple times at GDC and the like, trying to get a word out of him. When did you talk to them?
t0mbi
i hope they don't cancel the series, its heaps of fun and the modding side is sweet :)
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted May 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 21, 2009 Tbh, I'm glad. I'm sick to the back teeth with these lame street racers recycling the same ideas over and over. It's why we keep seeing them fail imo. NFS Burnout Midnight Club I'm looking at you! (N)

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted May 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 21, 2009 Poorly worded on my part there, those two are the culprits to "recycling the same ideas over and over". Although you could say MC failed with LA.

soniqstylz
I had issues with LA with the controls, the weird difficulty, and some of the music. Once I figured out mapping a good control scheme, that it had in-game custom music, and they patched the difficulty, I enjoyed it much more than Burnout Paradise. My biggest issue was that PS3 players online seemed more about cruising around and chatting on ****ty headsets than actually racing. MC was the only racing series I really liked, but then again, I grew up on Pole Position and Crusin' USA... lol. I just figured of all the racing series to get killed off, you'd think it would be NFS.

Chasethebase Reporter Posted May 21, 2009 Reporter Share Posted May 21, 2009 Burnout is fine, but we need 'New' racers, not the same game over and over again. Example, rumours of Forza 3 are inbound for the 360. It probably isn't needed until the next Xbox is around.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted May 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 21, 2009 Its fine creating a sequel as long as it warrants one. When they just rehash the same crap over again it's not. Or the fad of creating "open end" worlds to drive around. That's not even new to this generation but they are like flies to **** with it (N)
Brad.
I've never played Midnight Club LA myself, but I heard good comments from my friends about it. Not too fussed if MC gets canned tbh...
