9UnknownMen
I do see Virtualization as an 'off/enabled' setting in my Bios and its enabled by default. Are you saying some manufacturers have locked it out and you're trying to find a way to enable it?
Subject Delta
You can't unlock it in the bios. If your CPU doesn't support it, then you are out of luck. Virtualisation technology is on the CPU, not in the bios, the only role the bios has is to enable it if supported

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted May 20, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted May 20, 2009 Some Dell consumer laptops have it "greyed out" if you will in the BIOS (the option is there but no way to affect it). Simple BIOS update - I now can turn it on and off.

hdood
Presumably you'd have to find a hacked BIOS image for your exact make and model and then flash your machine with that. There probably is no magic combination of keys you can press to make it work otherwise. Also, is your CPU model a secret since you blank it out in all your screenshots? maccik
I have an Acer Aspire laptop ...Intel core 2 duo -T5500 processor which support Virtualization Technologie ... I have wrote to Acer and they told me that this option is hidden in the BIOS because of there marketing concept and they will not release a BIOS with the feature enabled. . Now the question is very simple can be unlocked or not ? :) thank s for your helps..
Leddy
Some T5500 processors have it and some don't. Depends on your stepping.
Raa
HP do this, but a bios update fixed it. Keep applying pressure on Acer, they might give you an update? :p
Thunderbuck
"marketing concept"? Really? Why would "marketing concept" affect BIOS features? My Dell XPS 1530 did not support VT when I first received it, but a subsequent BIOS update enabled the feature (note, it was disabled by default; I needed to go in and turn it on). Just chill, and give Acer some time to get their s#it together, and I'm sure that if your laptop's mobo can support VT, they'll provide an update to enable it for you. Admittedly, it may take Acer a few years to manage this, for no particularly good reason, but it could happen. As well, you'll have to forgive me for being skeptical, but I have a hard time believing that anyone in Acer's tech support would give a rat's ass about "marketing concepts"... Subject Delta
If I where you i'd demand to speak to someone who actually knows what the hell they are talking about. There may actually be a valid technical reason for the feature to be disabled. Also, in future when you are asked for info about your hardware, blanking out the version of the CPU is silly. It doesn't afford you any privacy, it prevents people from helping you, and just defeats the point of posting it in the first place.

jgreenough
I had a similar problem as a lot of Sony Vaio laptops have it hidden, after reading about 20 pages of a post someone had done about modifying the bios with their hacked one i bit the bullet - worked like a treat - shame some manufacturers do this, dont know why maybe due to licensing? lee31
A T5500 cpu does not support virtualisation. Below is a list of all intel 2 core CPU's and what technologies they are capable of and T5500 is listed as not having virtualisation. http://www.intel.com/products/processor_nu...rt/core2duo.htm It's near the bottom of the list.
