funkyblue
Hey All, Since I have used Win7 any builds have had issues with wireless. It connects and works fine. Problem is often download speeds will halve. I can download around 1100k per second. Often it drops down to 500k per second. If I disconnect wireless and reconnect it goes back to full speed. I have used three different drivers and its all the same. (One was found on Windows Update) If there anything I can do to prevent it dropping down in speed? It's frustrating when downloading large files to find the speed as halved. I have a Netgear WG311V3 54Mbps Wireless PCI Adaptor. Thanks

Lock
glad to hear im not the only one, I didn't receive the issue under build 7000, hopefully RTM will fix the issue
funkyblue
Its not fixed in 7127 and has been doing it for me since 7000. Quiet frustrating. If it was a driver issues it would not happen with three drivers.

Thanks you lucky guy, WG311V3 doesn't even start in (my) win 7 x64 rc1... i believe you have to wait for netgear to support win 7 and it's probably not happening in the near future according to some posts in the netgear forums... netgear isn't going to support an os in the beta stage. Anarcho-Capitalist
I have an Intel 4965agn and a Linksys WRT54GL and I've had no problems at all with my connection since I installed 7100 when it first came out . I also put build 7127 on my brother's Atheros AR928x equipped laptop and he says he's had zero issues with wireless. You guys really need to mention what your router and wireless card combo are so we can see if it's an issue specific to certain hardware.
Statikk
You could also be picking up intermittent interference. You need to do a site survey and find out what channels other networks in your area are running on. Then adjust the channel of your router to be as far away from the other networks as possible. Speedtest whenever you change the channel to determine the best one for you.
funkyblue
I have a Billion 7402VGP and WG311V3 card. I never thought of changing the wireless channels. Will give that a shot. @Aschmir, I have a driver that works with Win7 RC 64-bit. You just need to setup a permanent DNS to make the connection work. Once connected there is a driver available on Windows Update.
dragon2611
Welcome to the wonderfull world of wireless. thesedays with everyone having wireless broadband routers it's actually quite hard to find a clear channel. it might be the driver, but equally it could just be droping to a lower rate due to a large number of errors and retransmits. funkyblue
I don't have the issue on my laptop and Win7. It's Win7. Exact same settings worked on my main comp 100% with Vista and XP and I was using the same driver, as Win7. Changing the channel has seemed to solve the problem! Thanks. Aschmir
hmm, did you upgrade your win 7 from beta to rc or did you make a clean install? maybe you could upload your driverfiles to rapidshare or something... so i could compare your driver with mine. i would appreciate that!
