Dead Clown Posted May 21, 2009 Share Posted May 21, 2009 So i sold my macbook already, i am trying to reformat so i can delete all my data. i put the mac os x disk in but when i try and install it, it says i already have a newer version install i checked and on my "about this mac" it says my mac os x version is 10.5.7 and my disk is 10.5.6? i am very confused can someone lend a hand? When it comes back on (before the apple logo appears) hold down the C key to boot from the CD. From there, go through as normal, and choose "Erase and Install". Slacker Posted May 21, 2009 Share Posted May 21, 2009 Use the original install disc that came with the macbook. 1. put the disc into the computer 2. turn off the computer 3. turn on the computer while holding down the 'c' key. 4. when you see the grey apple, release all keys 5. when the computer is started up, use the pull down menus from the top to choose "Disc Utility" 6. format the entire disc. 7. after it's been wiped, you can shut down the computer, or install OS X, putting the computer as it was when you bought it.
