GEARS OF WAR 2 - Smoke Grenade Test Weekend

Apparently the knock down effect of smoke grenades is being removed this weekend as a test, to see what people think of it. So the smokes will now have the same effect as the smokes on Gears of War.

Why did they change it to 4v4? I'll have to let my friend know regardless because he would be able to pick up on it pretty quick if anything has been changed.

Hmm well maybe they are ramping up for an overhaul of the system, albeit five months late. If that is the case, maybe that "All Fronts Pack" is the reason. They probably assume they will have a slight boost from that and a re-interest in the online portion. Hopefully this time they can pull people in and keep them playing.

What's wrong with knock down effect? Why are they removing it? And what's gonna be the point of smoke grenade if they remove that effect after all?

To deploy smoke and hide your movements, the same as in Gears 1. This is really great news, I just hope they keep it permanently and not just for the weekend. Now if they would just get rid of the wall tagging...

I hope they keep it, personally (knockdown). There's no point to it otherwise -- people just spray whenever spoke gets thrown. It was useless in 1. It has a purpose in 2.

Your telling me you have never had a problem with the knockdown at all? I think that if there was a like 1 or 2 sec down it would be fine. But when it is so varied for how long you are down it is just annoying. I have had times where I get knocked down for 1 sec while others takes 10 sec to get up.

That was always the issue with me. I don't have a problem being knocked down, it rewards a good throw but the variability in how long you are knocked down is a pain in the a**!

Just IMO.... that's the point! You need to be more careful if they're tagged or learn to run away, as they don't immediately go off.

But that's dumb. If two people get hit by the same grenade at the exact same time, they should both get up at the exact same time. Why in the world does it have to be varied? They should've allowed the player to mash a button to get up faster IMO.

But as another poster said, the smoke grenade were the least of my concerns.

Because if they get thrown down stairs because they have bad placement it's going to take them longer to travel down the stairs? Just IMO.
