Except it was a terrible joke and not even remotely correct.

Windows Firewall is fine.

Run as "Standard User", create an admin account to use when performin admin task turn windows firewall on in/outbound and you are set. Obvisously you need to add programs that connect to internet to outbound list..

And what is wrong with the Windows firewall?

At the time of asking the question I didn't know how capable W7 firewall was! Guess I am just too used to not trust Windows firewall.

BTW, with everyone saying if you have a router with NAT then there are no problems. I mentioned in my OP that I have a router with NAT but like I consequently explained that I needed the software firewall to block outbound program access, again which I didn't know W7 firewall could do.
