fhpuqrgrpgvirzhpujbj
Ok, I got a used 360 controller from game stop (wired, the Microsoft kind not the game stop crap ones). It's too late to return it (more then 7 days) I just noticed the thumb stick often 'sticks' into position when you move it up (and sometimes when you move it left) Releasing it won't reset it back sometimes, it sticks and I've died more then once because it kept going forward when I didn't want it too. Is there any way to fix this? take the stick out and clean the bottom off or something? Is it stuck in wrong? Any help please?
t0mbi
yeah it might be a simple matter of just pulling your controller apart and looking at the problematic stick without its case. I think it's only 7 screws to undo :)
fhpuqrgrpgvirzhpujbj
The thumbsticks are apparently hard to get to inside the controller... Anything else I could try? Edited May 23, 2009 by omnicoder
Remysaus
You could call ms for a new controller, every console gets his first broken accessory replaced for free, not sure how it goes over there, but here you don't even have to send in the old one (thus getting a free extra controller if you're a cheap edit: bunny like me :p) Otherwise, just screw it open and clean it a bit, since you don't have any warranty over it and it's pretty useless now I don't see how you could go wrong by doing so.. neoadorable
Never buy used controllers, they're bound to break on you sooner than anything else. Depending on when this was made, the controllers, although still quite solid, have taken a drop in quality compared to 2-3 years ago. Mine started creaking within two months of purchase, but has since stopped making that noise. I believe they changed something in the plastic for the thumbsticks, it's not moving as freely as before. in your case i'd just try opening it up, you have nothing to lose. short of that get a new controller. PurpleHaze420
Just like Remysaus's said earlier. Call MS and state that you have a broken controller, obviously don't tell them you bought it 2nd hand but state that you bought it something like 8-12 weeks ago and is now out of the 28 days warrenty you have with the store, they will replace it for you 95% of the time with very little questions asked. ;)
what
Would they do that with a red controller, even though I imported it from Asia? I'm guessing not :(
neoadorable
yeah but he'd be without a controller for at least a couple of weeks, and from his story i'd say he's trying to save money so spares might be an issue. try fixing it yourself first. PurpleHaze420
They almost never ask you to return a controller, it's not worth there hassle. They will 95% of the time just replace it on good faith. Well, they do in the UK anyhow. :)
Brad.
If they want you to send it back then kick up a fuss about not having another one to use! This way they should send one to you without asking you to send the broken one back.

Browno
I'm gonna do this now, my sticks have been sticking for 3/4 months now, cheers for the heads up guys (Y) EDIT: Ah that didn't work, they wanted proof of purchase, and my console was out of warranty so they wouldn't do anything about it (N) Edited May 28, 2009 by Browno
neoadorable
sorry to hear. get a new controller - you don't have to buy an MS unit, get a compatible, even a wired one if you really want to save. That cuts your cost down to like $30.
