how many here are still running build 7100 RC?

Recommended Posts

i see there is a new build out and maybe another one coming soon. i was just wondering who is still running the "official" 7100 rc build as i am? part of me wants to install a newer build but i don't see the point over a few bug fixes that don't currently effect me. if it was a security issue i would of course. to be honest my wife wants me to put vista back on our rig until 7 comes out later this year because she is sick of me formatting all the time.

Me. I avoid the bot-builds... They're not ours to have. :)

i do agree with the wife partially, it can't be good to format your hdd all the time either.

I too, I don't see any point that I should install later builds.

Well, I'm very happy with 7100 and will be using it 'till RTM.

Exactly. Any differences in these builds from 7100 RC is more than likely very small. And as was stated above, constant reformatting just to have the "latest" can't be good for the HD.

In any event, 7100 RC is rock solid. No BSOD's, no driver issues, haven't had one bug and it's very fast. So why bother until RTM?

In all fairness theres only been the one genuine confirmed leak since the 7100 RC build so I haven't upgraded yet. The RC is running great so i'm not going to mess with it at the moment. Maybe in a month or so when some later builds get leaked i'll upgrade..

Formatting your hard drive frequently shouldn't have any bad effects on the hard drive.

I'm using Windows 7 RC, and am very pleased with it. It's running very well. I can no longer be bothered using time to download and install new builds of Windows 7, and then installing all of my programs - there are only a couple of small bug fixes in the new builds anyway. Also, the methods of obtaining the new builds are blocked here, (with the exception of Usenet, which I don't use anyway), so I couldn't really download the new builds, even if I wanted to.

I'm using 7057 on my laptop still. Not had a chance to clean install it for 7127 yet. My other computer has it, though. Pretty good.

Still running 7100 on my main PC and two laptops. As I'm an official tester, I wouldn't be able to do my testing if I upgraded to one of the newer leaked builds, so I'll stick on 7100 until they (Microsoft) give me something newer to test :)

7077 escrow RC and 7100 RC isos were smaller: 3.05 GB for x64 version

7057, 7068 and 7127 isos are larger: 3.24 GB for x64

Maybe it's debug code in the latter, hence the few users who have reported 7100 RC to be slightly faster, especially regarding boot time?

yo. Once I installed 7100, got itunes and a couple of games running, I really couldn't be bothered to clean install.

It's running fine, and as long as it's patched now and again, I'll run it until I buy it at retail.

I've been running build 7100 on my work laptop (in production) since the day the RC was released. I love it.

It's about 100 times better than Vista w/SP1 will ever be. I still don't think there is anything wrong with XP Pro with SP3 and I don't know that I would recommend Windows 7 over WinXP. I see no reason.

I have a driver issue, my Tascam Fireone won't work with the Vista drivers in Windows 7!
