Xbox Live down for some?

Recommended Posts

I can't believe people like you who absolutely have to play on Xbox Live for what must be all the time because you can't handle a little bit of downtime. It's not that big of a deal. Play a single player game, or go outside or something. Your life shouldn't depend on whether or not you can play on Xbox Live 24-7 and Microsoft has no obligation to compensate for a slight hiccup. If the stuff is down for, say, upwards of a week, I would definitely want something in return, but not half a day.

Not even that.

Like I said, read the TOS and you'll see MS have already asked you to agree to understand that events like XBL going offline unexpectedly may happen. Your ISP, phone provider, satelite tv provider etc all do it, and rightly so or we'd have however million people whining for freebies every week putting them out of business.

Stifler is annoyed because you're trying to freeload. Technology fails, what can you do.

Anyway, the issue seems to be fixed, so you can play your DLC now :)

Except see when my internet goes down i phone my ISP up and i get an account credit.

When my cable tv dies guess what i phone up my cable company and guess what they credit my account. Guess what both my ISP and cable company are virgin media.

Guess they want my business because i could quite simply go somewhere else, same with my XBL, i could simply play it on the PS3 for free. But no i choose to use XBL because most of my friends are on there.

When the blizzard servers went down they creditied everyone with a free day.

Why because i pay for something and you expect to get what you pay for from a company providing you a service.

Ok so how much do you expect to recieve from MS? I'm interested to hear.

XBL was offline for what, 2 hours maybe? It costs around 9p a day for a 12 month sub. You really want 0.6 of a penny back?

excuse if my math is bad, did it quick :p

Thank you, I might have been working all day and never noticed this supposed down time but the fact the service was down whilst paying for it has made my emotionally unstable.

Very few ISPs and cable companies will credit your account, at least not here in the US. It's tough luck for us if they go out and they do. And you're right, you could go to the PS3, but then you wouldn't be able to play with your friends and you'd get a service that's also bound to go down unexpectedly and Sony's not going to reimburse you either, so really, it's not much of a choice.

I've subscribed to XBL since it was in BETA in 2002 and not once thought it wasn't worth my money because of a little downtime (or even a lot of downtime, such as the holiday fiasco a year and a half ago). There's 8700 hours in a year. They aren't obligated to give anything if the system works so well that the extent of unscheduled downtime is 2 hours (and in past years, barring that holiday issue, that is probably not a farfetched number for hours of unscheduled downtime). Most people don't care nearly that much and rightly so - this isn't a situation where a freebie is deserved.

Probably also doesn't help your situation that it occurred in the early morning in the US, so most subscribers wouldn't have even noticed.
