jhumur
I set up a Home Network (wired) between my desktop and laptop, through a Linksys router. Both machines are running Windows 7, 64-bit on the desktop and 32-bit on the laptop. I had no real issues with my network, until a couple of days ago. Now, when i go to access one of the shared drive, either from the laptop or from the desktop, it prompts me for a password. Typing in the network password that the system created during install doesn't help, nor will it accept the system password as valid. Curiously, I have password protection turned off. I have cycled the router. But didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks!
ilesal
This is a known issue with samba. If you click on computer and at the top choose map network drive, (make sure that before you do this you have network discovery turned on,) don't worry about the drive letter just type the address of the folder on the shared drive you want example- \\storage\video or \\storage\pictures this then creates a short cut to the folder you want. Not ideal but it works, it is being fixed for the RTM.
jhumur
Mapping to the network drive still asks me for a password, and keeps asking even when I type in the password created during setting up the homegroup. The effin' thing didn't ask me for it yesterday, but today it insists on it. It allows access w/o a password one day but not the next? Is this PMSOS?
