How to stop Localhost:/ root# from appearing?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Problems started today when i tried re-installing tiger on the ibook G3, it is one of the models with the graphics chip problem, where it freezes and the screen gets lines across it. I can live with that but it happened whilst installing OS X, it wont boot from CD now and all i get after the apple grey screen (no spinning icon) screen is a black screen that says Localhost:/ root#. Is there any way i can stop this and go back to installing OS X?

sorry if its something simple i am a noob to apple

but pressing C does nothing, just the grey screen with the apple and then black with Localhost:/ root#

I Want to try and get this repaired as it would make a nice netbook kind of thing :)

Many thanks,

Ricky
