Starting to get worried about Win 7

Recommended Posts

I just installed the latest build (Clean Install) and I?m still experiencing the following bugs.u>WMP12b>

-I cannot convert bit rate quality to my device other than ?defaults? ? If I try to lower settings to like 128 bits then it will not sync to my device and will results in errors. This never worked in Win 7 but worked flawlessly in Win 7in 7

-I cannot put my computer to sleep, it results in a crash, and my CPU fan is forced to max? (It is pretty loud)? I then need to kill the power on the computer to restart windows? will motherboard drivers fix this? There hasn?t been an update from AMD since the beginning of the year? I?m curious, what would cause a computer to not properly go to sleep? ? I need this to work to save on energy costs. Again it works in Vista.

I don't worry about windows 7 because I have NONE of those problems.

Really helpful post!

As Spork says, try and re-install again and see what happens. If same problems persist then come and we'll see what else we can do to help....

No worries here with AM2 platform (5600+ X2 and M2N-E SLi) Try updating the drivers however if it's older hardware it could just not support the change in way sleep/hibernate works or anything from windows xp if that's what you came from.

Are you getting a STOP error? Is it creating a log file everytime? If it is, please post the most recent one here so we can go through it.

Just having a quick look around and some people report it like you said to be a Driver issue, so keep updating those drivers for the most relevant hardware and see if that fixes it. Does Hibernation work? You could use that as a work around for now until the Sleep problem can be correctly diagnosed.

Weird - no errors in system event logs. ?

Let me describe it.

I manually put the computer to sleep and the screen goes blank and the HDD stops spinning...all is well, but the CPU fan shoots to max and gets really loud...normally you only hear the CPU fan at that level for 3 sec when I boot.

Then, it appears as though the comp is sleeping, but no click on the mouse or key strokes on the keyboard awakes the comp. I then have no choice but to reach in the back of my comp and kill the power on the PSU.

But here is when I find it unusual - when I restart windows...it says on the boot screen "resuming Windows"... not the usual..."starting Windows"

So I assume it's resuming from sleep?

I wouldn't worry too much about hardware support ATM. While hardware support seems to be fantastic, there's still plenty of devices that will be made compatible (or more compatible) by the time RTM hits.

Oh crap...now you've done it...

Don't get me wrong, Win7 is awesome...just gotta have those 2 bugs fixed... not saying microsoft fault though...well maybe WMP12 bug... But I think I'm the only person in the worl who uses that function...as no one ever comments/suggest/aknowledge..that bug.

7137 isn't all that as a build TBH. Seems slower than 7127 on my rig after a fresh install and I even had a Blue Screen when installing my audio drivers and I ain't had a blue screen since 2008.

After a quick Meh I went back to 7127, something is just not quite right with 7137.
